A "high-quality" stream that is barely above the norm....In addition you forget that (presumably) everyone who purchased the season pass already did the test provided on the website which illustrates a smooth stream without being unwatchable as it was during the entire Season 2. Honestly, if you lived in Europe and paid for this service which is advertised to you as being accessible and reasonable, I think you wouldn't have such arrogance in your comments.

We need about 90kb/s to have a stable HQ stream (or was it 650kbit/s?). Let's just say 100kb/s. Strange that we can have better transfer rates from "the other end of the world" (i.e. fileplanet us servers, ...). The minimum I get from those is 300kb/s up to 1mb/s. Sure my EU servers are even better with 2.5mb/s but that's not the point. Dont even let me get started from swedish people with 100mb/s upload ![]() The "other end of the world" "it's the internet" argument is stupid. Yes it's worse from what we get from inter-Europe. But it's easily enough to handle a measly 100kb/s stream. And if it's gomtv's provider who is the bottleneck - it's gom's fault for choosing such a lousy provider (since evidence shows other providers manage to handle the needed traffic) and also gom's fault for not "encouraging" their provider to get things fixed if it's a problem which the provider can fix.

Whatever - I had the same issues during season 2! Season one worked kinda fine, in season 2 however, I was barely able to watch the LQ streams (sometimes I even had to use the p2p teststream because LQ lagged as well!!), HQ was not possible at all. Even the HQ Vods take three times as long to load as they play, which is kinda ridiculous... This is quite sad, as I planned to get the ticket for season 3 as well, but not with the current limitations. To all those guys saying it might be related to the customer online connection: surely not. Period. My connection is totally fine (16mbit downstream) towards more or less anything world wide. Of course you might suffer some bandwidth loss with increasing latency since standard TCP window sizing algorithms are not optimal for that, but that is negligible compared to the available bandwidth. The problem surely is the carrier connection of gomtv as a bottleneck. Though I really wonder how hard it can be to set up local solutions in times of cloud computing and streaming service providers. Man, it would be sufficient for Gom to rent a few servers in Germany (which are pretty cheap here even, as well as traffic - probably a lot cheaper than better carrier connections in korea) and use them as a proxy to serve Europe. Waiting to buy another ticket until people respond that issues are resolved..

You couldn't connect to their server because of a firewall on your router or with your ISP or some other issue with your computer. That error is not caused by anything on their end, but by your computer. Don't blame GomTV for not having your computer set up right to allow their program to stream to you. Example, did you try restarting your computer? Did you do any troubleshooting? Did you check Gom's forums for help with this issue? It's seriously not worth it to discuss it with you because you are clearly underestimating my intelligence.

GOM is very accommodating with almost all things reasonable. I'm not sure about this case though, as it might be your fault. They do have test streams for you to try and test your bandwidth before buying it. If those were ok and your stream wasn't, then you have a case. Otherwise, it is probably a bit of your fault. Doesn't hurt to try though. PS. I think its only Europeans that have problems with GOM HD, not sure if its a routing issue or something.

They're a pretty small scale thing right in terms of foreigners and how they do business, so be patient ![]()

This being said I am sure they will refund the money or offer some sort of discount on season 3 since they really want people to watch. Also keep in mind that the money we put into it improves the GomTV offerings over all. I mean season one was quite bad and the hq was basically season 2s SQ. and I only hope that the bandwidth is improved for S3 since the HQ vods were at times hard to buffer. I spent a lot of time buffering matches with big players within 24 hours of the live match happening. so SlayerS_Boxer vs NaDa took me an hour to buffer 3 hours after the game ended live and it was finally up. But thats ok I understand

The original idea from GOM was that you make a donation, and can get some perks in return. Hence the "Thank you for your purchase/donation" page after you buy it. Also how the original GOM season classics went. Except you could donate whatever you wanted, as I recall. I think you're being completely hysterical about it. Not only because of the ridiculous small amount of money, but also per concept. While the first person who stated it got warned for it, I'm gonna restate it for emphasize anyway. Can't believe you're crying over not getting a service you paid 1.5€ to get. It is completely out of my comprehension how you can even decide to put so much work into it "to prove a concept" worth that little.

But surely there are swedes with 1gigabit connections *hope* On November 19 2010 01:17 ironwarrior wrote: The stream was laggy in general since the only people who aren't watching in Korean are watching in English. Now think about the numbers of people that would want to watch the GSL2 finals across the world who speak or understand English or just plain prefer English to Korean since they have a base knowledge in it. Having this in mind it makes sense that the stream would be laggy not only because a ton of people are on it but because of the number of people refreshing and re opening and joining part way through to the stream. This large numbers of people creating connections describes the lag so please do not decide whether or not to buy the season pass on this one experience since I can tell you the season pass was an amazing deal and an amazing value for my 20 dollars last season and the 15 this season (CA $). Please explain - with your theory - how come that most US users had no lag (or dont complain on the gomtv forum), while a large number of Europeans do so. According to you the US users must've experienced the same amount of lag. And please remember - the problems arent only during the finals. But also RO64 "noname" games.

They acknowledge the problem and are working hard to solve it apparently. This gives me hope and I'll most likely try the HD stream with a day pass somewhere during the season to see if it has improved. To be fair I'll try it outside the BIG games to see it working under a normal condition ![]()

I mean cmon man, you are helping esports, and it had a hiccup. 1.50 whoopdeefreagindoo. How can it be helping e-sports? If anything this makes it worse, when quality demands are overlooked for the blind sake of "the greater good". For GomTV to be taken as a serious company they have to live up to their promises. For the longevity of e-sports quality and money has to go hand in hand. On a sidenote; isnt this exactly the same story as it was during the GomTV Classics when they introduced the HQstream. At first they set a high price and everyone complained. Then they adjusted it down, but tried to get away really cheap with too low streaming capacity I recognize the story very much.
