I also have a conjecture:

The gap (multiple of 63) cumulates up with time. Since the blizzard top200 day this week is somewhere between 15 and 16 weeks from the release of sc2, I conjecture the gap is 4 times the number of weeks from the release. If the gap is always fixed, the extra 200 or 300 pts should be very significant when the top players only has 500 points, but I did not observe this.

Excalibur_Z, what do you think of my conjecture?

I think it's not true, I just think most of the first diamond divisions are higher tiers - this is why most of the people on top 200 are from older divisions.

It's not linked anywhere else right now since this is just testing. This only shows US, and only divisions with modifiers set in 1v1 diamond. Gold number is modified points, white is original, everything is sorted by modified.

YOU ARE A TOTAL BOSS. Now I can know where I am gonna be in top 200. :DD

You are right, but it doesnt say anything about my conjecture.

My conjecture is about why this number is 63 instead of 73 or 53 and how this number will go next week.

I'm saying the number probably doesn't change, because it's uncommon for newer divisions to be S-rank, so they just make the newer divisions have higher modifiers to make them closer in pts.

We can definitely examine this once the next Top 200 is released. I'm a little skeptical, but if you're right then I believe it would be related to the current max bonus pool. Which currently is pretty much the same thing because we haven't had a new season yet.

The reason I'm skeptical is that each division represents a subset of the total MMR range captured by a league. If the league boundaries are static along the MMR range (which may or may not be the case) then I'm not sure what the reason would be to increase the offsets of the divisions over time. It's not like people in a +252 division just start at 252. They can start at 0 and work up like normal. So a person at 0 points in an A-rank division would be (in theory) -63 in an S-rank division. Does that make sense? I'm not sure this is a good example.

So allaboutyou is 252 points ahead of his real level since the first day he is in the ladder?

If that is the case, I think he should have ruled the ladder for a much longer time. He almost always stands evenly against me (if not better) since very long ago, and I am almost always about 200 points below the highest player in the ladder.

That is what I think, yes. We haven't had a solid history for this stuff at all so next week's Top 200 should be telling.

I guess we'll see next week! I suppose it's possible, but I don't think it's very likely. I think they just determined that 63 would be a good level of separation between tiers. We'll all find out together next week, though.

I think your confusing better players joining diamond league first vs better players being in better divisions.

Divisions are created when one fills up.

NEW TOP 200 IS OUT
hurry to get their ratings
http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/1191653

I'm #164 with 2388 pts in S-rank.
Tied with nexx, 2514 in Corsair Uncle (though I have not checked his match history (edit: his w/l ratio hasnt changed so nvm)), that would be 126 pts, putting Corsair Uncle at B-rank still. Also, that means that the modifier doesn't change, as I thought :D

Right behind Etherone in Corsair Iota, and he has 2516, putting that also at B-rank.

I'm starting to put the points at time of top 200 in - sc2ranks.com/masters hasnt updated since top 200 (every single record matches), so just saving those pages so I can just copy the pts. Still checking records/bolding just to confirm.

http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/1191653

and

http://sc2ranks.com/masters

looks very very identical. Probably some variations here and there because the top 200 blog is 1 hour old and we don't know what time they actually plucked the data before pasting it. Congratulations is in order.

ya I'm checking the current pts vs the snapshot right now, using win/loss total to make sure they haven't played any games

Rankings are as of 10:30 AM EDT or 7:30 AM PDT according to the top 200 post, also.

Thanks for putting in the work Pokebunny. Looks like things are pretty consistent between the Masters list and the Top 200. That's great news.
