The pool phase being over, eGG-one decided to release a promotional video. It's a fake movie trailer and, yeah, just watch it you'll understand.

The trailer "Starleague: The Movie" is a promotional video for eGG-one created by François Descraques. Today, François and eGG-one have no plans to create a full-length movie... But perhaps one day, you never know :-) Our intention is to cast a spotlight on the world of eSport and Starcraft 2 with eGG-one and l'eOSL Winter'10. A cut-throat tournament of some of the top 16 French players, with a cash prizes totalling 3600 euros, over a period of two months, with professional web coverage: Pre-match and post-match articles, video commentaries, interviews, player biographies, lexicon of tehcnical terms, etc. Even if you know nothing of eSports, we give you the oportunity to enter into our world! If you've been watching the Day[9] dailies, Sean's mentioned Adel (Adelscott) and SarenS quite often. There's also MoMaN who was arguably one of the top Zergs during the SC2 Beta. They're all in this plus more. To be fair, at first I was reluctant to watch French players (and I'm French, go figure) but ever since I've been working on translations and whatnot I've seen the kind of potential they have. Some games have been MLG/Blizzcon caliber... If anything give it a try, I'm sure you won't regret it!
Ok I left this thread after I got the link for the video because I wasn't intending on posting anything about the video, but that trailer was absolutely hilarious. It was so well done and the jokes were actually all pretty funny.

i been a while since i saw a video who make me laugh so hard and make me want to see it over and over and still laugh. For sure i will follow hte eOSL. The promo video do his job
I really wish a movie like this was made, but serious and not a comedy. I feel like making it a comedy would make esports seem like more of a joke like a lot of people already think it is. But either way, i guess attention is always good for esports since it doesn't get enough.
I gotta say, I laughed pretty hard at the vid. I agree with pzea469 though, a serious dramatic sc2/esports movie (or even a short) would be really cool.
Anyone else notice the "beautiful mind" parody? and when he closed his dead friend's eyes and then his friend opened them again... that part was brilliant ROFL
However I'm kinda reluctant to follow the french scene. There aren't many top players and I don't really like the french community in general (lots of trolls) even though I speak french.
The StarLeague trailer you were speaking about has been shot to launch the first season of the eGG-one StarLeague, a french tournament who gathered the 16 best players.
Season 2 broadcasts are begining on the 14th of May on our website, then another video has been released. It's somehow different from the previous one. We tried to make a short cartoon who could appeal Starcraft II newcomers and explain them the basic rules of the game. The voice over is Lea212's one (the love interest of Gaspard08 in season 1 trailer). Language is french but english subs are embedded !

Unfotunately elky is not in season 2, he was only in the first season. He is on poker full time. I guess prizes are 'a bit' higher... money, money...
There is ToD though who did almost as well as elky (but in war3)... and is doing quite good on Starcraft II (although not on top level yet, he only picked the game in late 2010) !
