Just don't call out people for having different opinions than yours and then not back it up with any real argument, they made a fucking post on here asking for our opinions, ofcourse we're gonna say what we think. No need to pull out personal insults because you disagree.

I am saying we shouldn't shred them aimlessly for their commentators that are doing HALO, when its not MLG's fault, it is the halo communities fault. My point is that don't say halo is gigantic because they have MLG behind them, and then take a shit on SC2's backing when all the largest gaming leagues and orgs in the world have starcraft, not halo. Check WCG, IEM (nationals and globals), and the tons of other leagues going around everywhere. Check Live On Three, halo news is not news. Counterstrike 1.6 news is news, as is Quake, as is Starcraft BW as well as SC2. I'm not saying that halo is huge, because I know it isn't, it's a very niche game, but MLG has done a great job expanding and growing around pretty much only halo and now they are trying to expand to other things which will be difficult because Halo is a very different game from any of the really big competitive games. I just get so tilted when I see so many elitist comments dumping all over console gaming because it's not nearly as developed as PC gaming, which it shouldn't be because it's far behind PC gaming, but it has it's own merits. Also I find it funny, how people are completely disregarding the quality of hosts because they are being goofy, when one of the biggest SC2 representatives in the states is a guy who does a daily show where he acts completely goofy. It's the worst sort of a double standard.

I mean the segment on Halo players is fine, I don't really mind it, but it really feels like it should be structured differently.

Also I find it funny, how people are completely disregarding the quality of hosts because they are being goofy, when one of the biggest SC2 representatives in the states is a guy who does a daily show where he acts completely goofy. It's the worst sort of a double standard. Their goofy is not Day9's goofy. I'm sure their sense of humor is appealing to some people, but to me and quite a few others in this thread, they were the opposite of entertaining.

He has the years of experience to back up whatever he says, that's why people watch him.. If he ONLY joked, he wouldn't be so popular IMO. The hosts on the show didn't seem to back up anything they were saying (by the way, what were they saying anyway, besides calling IdrA korean and talking about peppers and wearing costumes?)

I will agree that the show is very unfocused and they just don't have the chance to do the same as day where he has a whole hour that's completely focused on one thing. edit: didn't mean to double post, my bad.

I can see how people would like those two guys' humor, but I don't. Trying to argue objectively over humor is like trying to argue objectively that vanilla is better than chocolate. It's personal preference. However, it seems like most people on TL prefer Day9's humor to the hosts. That's why we're complaining, because they don't seem to mesh well with many people SC2 community.

Well that's the final advice for MLG then: don't take time from your brah's console broing commentating for SC2, just give Day9 the same amount of cash for production value, glasses fixing, tshirts and pedobear drinks. We'll all be happy and praise your name.

I remember watching an episode of OSR during MLG Raleigh and I got the same feeling about the hosts. They seem a little fake and awkward. I can't really hold this against them though, as the only esports host I've ever seen who always seems to act natural and comfortable while also being entertaining and charismatic is djWHEAT. I think your two guys did a fine job and were completely watchable, though I can't claim to be impressed. The only piece of content I enjoyed other than the SC2 section with Day[9] was the bit about the Medal of Honour censorship, though I haven't played a MoH game in years and don't plan to play this next one. Whether you agreed with him or not, it was obvious that your reporter really cared about what he was saying, and I respected that he took a firm stance on a controversial issue in gaming. It was a serious and interesting segment, and I was disappointed that the hosts didn't seem to have any idea how to respond, and went immediately back to their grinning, casual, 'let's hang out and play some video games, man' attitude. My mind wandered through all the other segments, so I don't really remember what they were about (a preview of customization for some game, some game's release was postponed, some random people playing Rock Band, and did they answer some twitter questions or am I imagining that?) but obviously none of them held my interest. I intended to watch the show all the way through in case another interesting segment came on, but ended up closing it a few minutes after Day[9]'s preview of MLG DC. I really liked the editing in that preview by the way, where clips of each player showed up as he was talking about them. Very suave. I guess I'm hinting that I would appreciate a more serious take on gaming. It doesn't have to be Starcraft, and it doesn't have to be esports. Just people taking their games seriously. I know Rock Band 3 is coming out and I know it's going to be fun. I don't need to see some random people having fun playing it. Surely there's something more engaging to be said about it.

The show clearly wasn't marketed to the high level standard that Starcraft is set to. People need to realize that acting elitist when something isn't completely 100% devoted to starcraft is a surefire way to turn people and potential viewers away from the community and is counterproductive to the cause of esports as a whole. Protip: Treating the people dropping thousands of dollars on you're game like shit is not a good way to show your support for their involvement in the community.

[B]On October 08 2010 08:45 ZlaSHeR wrote: Seriously? MLG has done the SC community and TL a justice in their ability to connect with our members and allow for us to ask them open questions HERE ON TEAMLIQUID and you're going to give them this much shit about a show that they do for free as a service? Then you're going to call people who have some semblance of maturity a butthurt console scrub? These guys are giving out 7000+ a tournament for SC2, thats the biggest prize pool outside of IEM and GSL, and now you guys are going to talk like this to them? Heads up, give constructive feedback at the very least, I'm amazed that you guys can run around here on TL talking to these employees and executives of MLG, who are targetting THEIR audience which is the MLG community. They put Day[9] on the show to give us a share, especially since Day[9] has appeal to everyone, maybe even expanding some of their MLG community into the starcraft 2 community moreso. But are you guys SERIOUSLY going to give them shit like this post above for a service that MLG does for everyone? Edit: Although to be fair, that RoyR guy is even worse, when he doesn't know a thing about Starcraft and talks like that. Yeah I agree, as much as I don't like their show and find it embarrassing (for them) that they obviously know nothing about StarCraft 2 even though it is on their show, most of the people on this thread are simply being too negative and close minded. At least give some constructive criticism and show that the StarCraft 2 community can really make a contribution to MLG's community which will only benefit esports as a whole. Anyways I'm glad that StarCraft 2 is being recognized by other communities. Maybe we can show the console community what esports is all about... because going by their show... clearly they don't know :p
