I know it doesn't prove zerg isn't underpowered if cool wins the gsl but i really hope he does just so idra and other zergs who want to switch races look like asses. You know, i don't really get this. If a Zerg wins the GSL, and a Zerg won King of the Beta, then that means the 2 most presitigous tournaments in starcraft 2 so far will have been won by Zerg. To me, thats a powerful argument that when you start talking about the absolute most skilled players in the world, Zerg isn't underpowered. It might be harder to play, in that getting to be good at lower levels of play is much easier with Protoss and Terran. But Toss were easier than the other races in BW at lower levels of play. Did that make them "OP"? No, because once you started talking about the very best in the world, those differences disappeared, and the top Terran and Zerg were fully capabe of beating top Protoss players. Guys like Ensnare and ITR are arguably the best Terrans in the world. If Cool does manage to beat them, then doesn't that prove that the Zerg race, if played to its full potential and at the most elite level is fully competitive with Toss and Terran?

His macro is decent, but not mindblowing. His unit micro is very good...but I think I've seen better (e.g. Dimaga). But Cool is better at positioning than any other Zerg I've ever seen. It seems like in every major battle, he manages to get perfect flanking/surrounds...and the difference it makes is monumental. Its notable that he's been more successful with better flanking/surrounds than IdrA has been with his masterful macro. It suggests on some level to me that Zerg isn't as much of a macro-oriented race as everyone has assumed...but rather, its a positioning oriented race. There have been a lot of Cool's matches where a pivotal battle went down, and had it not been for his perfect flanking he'd have lost, and had he lost no amount of macro brilliance would have saved him from being steamrolled by his Terran opponent. But he got the surround, which helpd him win or draw in those pivotal battles, which ultimately allowed him to get the win. I know everyone likes to focus on flashy stuff like the surprise 6-pool, the Baneling carpet bombing, the Fungal Growthed medivacs, etc. But I think those things are secondary to Cool's extraordinary ability to arrange the battlefield in exactly the right way for him to get a flank/surround at the exact moment he needs it. I really hope he wins, because I feel like Cool is helping to demonstrate how potent Zerg can actually be. Yes, they are the most difficult race, just as T and Z were more difficult than P in BW. And they may even be slightly UP. But when played at the highest level, they have the potential to be devastatingly effective, and I think the surface is just being scratched. And while everyone obsesses over build orders, the number of expansions you have, etc. Cool is showing that you don't need some genius build order no one's ever conceived of, you don't need to be a macro god with a 5 base advantage. You can actually just play in such a way that you outposition your opponent, win battles straight up, and that can ultimately be the key to victory. Rock on Cool, you're an inspiration. If you think cool has okay macro then you definitely forgot or havent seen the match vs OGsTOP on kulas ravine.... after being harassed and was very behind. he picked up many bases and came back

No, no it doesn't. The KotB tourny had 3 great players and a bunch of fluff. Yes IdrA beat Tester in the final (just) but he also lost to Tester 3-0 in the group stage (and completely dodged ITR). You can't take anything from that. And in GSL we had far less Zergs players in every round (until Cool reached Ro4). Then in foreigner tournaments Zerg players stand absolutely no chance at all. Now of course this doesn't prove that Zerg can't win but it certainly paints a picture of a race that is far more difficult to win with. Just because it's possible to win as one race, doesn't mean the game is balanced. Balance means games between equally skilled players should be 50/50 regardless of their race.
