Too lazy to put in pictures since I'm on my tiny netbook with a terrible touch pad and tiny screen, not emotionally prepared to go through hassle of adding pictures. If you wanna look at Korean nerds go look in the Nada's Body thread in BW or something xP
LiveForever Thoughts on making the Ro4? -I thought I'd lose, I couldn't even believe it myself when I won. If the openings were similar, because Maka is a stronger player, I felt I'd be disadvantaged. Luckily I could defend his all-in in game 2, otherwise I really didn't have the confidence to win.
You were limited by your opponent all throughout game 1. -I made some big mistakes when microing the drop. Even though I knew then that I couldn't win, I thought I couldn't give up so early, so I kept going for a bit.
You defended an all-in in game 2. -I saw VODs of Maka's games in the Blizzcon Invitational qualifiers, so I thought there could be an all in rush.
The opponent saw your Bunker but still chose to attack. -Even if there are 2 Bunkers on the high ground, without tanks, you can't hold the ramp. So I chose to make tanks, which was key to victory.
You used a Thor + Marine rush in game 3. -I saw people use it in games before, and thought it was good, so I used it.
Are your confident for the Ro4? -A lot of people were waiting for a Cool-Maka semifinal, but unfortunately Cool's opponent is now me. I'm sorry to those fans, but since I advanced, I will do my best.
You already guaranteed 10 million won in prize money [T/N: ~8700USD] -The computer at home broke, I need to buy a new computer first [laugh]
How do you plan on preparing for the Ro4? -The games are tomorrow, so I can't prepare fully. It'll be a battle of the basics.
Thoughts on the Ro4? -To be honest I didn't have expectations for today's games. It'll be the same tomorrow, I'll just do my best.

Cool
Thoughts on making the Ro4? -I'm very excited. I thought I could get eliminated this time, but I played with the must-win mentality.
You 6 pooled in game 1. -I feel like it's a good strategy. I had a lot of strategies, but I thought about it a lot and decided to 6 pool. Other people told me to 6 pool too.[/b]
You FE'ed in game 2. -If the opponent 2 gates or cannon rushes it'd be hard to defend, so I had wanted to get lings earlier. But when the game started I suddenly felt confident enough to defend it. Because the lings killed the Zealots, I was able to get Banelings.
You're the only Zerg in the Ro4. -ZvP is still very hard, but I'm confident in my ZvT. But it seems Ultralisks got nerfed yet again today, I maybe ZvT will become harder.
Will you be confident in the Ro4? -As long as they don't patch again I'm confident. I'll succeed if I work hard [laugh]
You might meet sSKS in the finals. -After the prelims I told him I wished to meet him in the finals, and seeing the brackets, it was possible. I wasn't confident at first, but I'm still in the Ro4 now.
The opponent left without GG. -After the game ended he PMed me and said he was confused, so he didn't GG, and apologized. I think it's because he was rushed in both games, I can understand.
The semifinals are Bo5. -It's true the maps are bad for Zerg, but I'll try my best.[/b]
Last words? -EternalPrime, who I eliminated in the Ro64 helped me practice a lot, and was really dedicated. Thanks to him.

HopeTorture
Thoughts on beating sSKS and making the Ro4? -The games all went according to plan. I didn't have time to prepare for game 3, so I'm glad it ended 2-0.
The opponent used Void Rays in game 1. -The teammate I practiced with can only use Void Rays, after practicing with him, I'm immune to Void Rays.
You were always on the offensive in game 2. -I wanted to end it 2-0. I didn't even expand, so I couldn't let my opponent have his natural, so I kept pressuring him.
Who do you want to play in the Ro4? -I hope for a Protoss. I always discuss strategies with Ensnare, so if I play with him, there'd be no secrets. It'd be harder to prepare.
Some people hope you switch to Protoss. -Protoss is much stronger than in BW, so I don't really care if I play Protoss. But when I first picked race I saw no one else was playing Terran, so I chose it. Now I'm familiar with Terran, so I don't want to change races. I think Terran is the strongest.
During BW I kept saying Terran was too hard, and Boxer-hyung kept joking and telling me to switch to Terran. Now I'm playing Terran in SC2, I'm finally experiencing it. Besides TvT, everything is easy.
This is your best result as a progamer. -A lot of players with a chance to do even better didn't participate, so even if I win I don't think I'm very strong. There'll be even stronger people participating in the future, so I can't be satisfied with my current results and I'll need to work harder.
Now you're playing Bo5s. -Bo5 emphasizes basics and mind games.
Last words? -Thanks to all my teammates who helped me practice, I'll repay them by winning. Go Startale!
http://s.163.com/10/0928/19/6HMMGFT900314JJA.html
Ensnare
You won with ease. -True. It's because the Hellions that I made only for scouting got a lot, so I was able to win with ease.
Your opponent in the Ro4 is HopeTorture. -The opponent is strong, but I'll prioritize enjoying the games.
The semis are Bo5, do you have any good strategies? -I haven't thought about it yet, but Hope-hyung has very aggressive, so I think if I can defend and drag it to late game I'd be good.
You ensured 10 million won prize money. -I don't have much to say about that. I just want to enjoy SC2, enjoy happy times.
It can be a TvT finals. -I think Cool will win, so it won't be TvT. In Bo5, mind games are important, and Cool-hyung has the advantage of progaming experience, so he has a big advantage.
You're in the Ro4, are you satisfied? -I'm in the upper levels of the rankings, as long as I don't lose to players who are around my level or below, I'm satisfied. It seems I can be satisfied now.
Last words? -I defeated many Protosses to get to the Ro4, I'll treat them to meals [laugh]

THANK YOU CSHEEP also in the cool one about the GG, I think the original korean says something more like inca said his head hurt because he lost to the same strategy twice in a row, and thus forgot to gg. but you could be right, this is 2nd hand information as i didn't read it myself.
|
thanks for the translations im so glad cool won! also glad ensnare and hope made it as well. ^_^

"The opponent left without GG. -After the game ended he PMed me and said he was confused, so he didn't GG, and apologized. I think it's because he was rushed in both games, I can understand."
Wow, this reaffirms that InCa is a great guy, for me at least. I bet all those people posting page after page after page of hate towards him for the "BM" in the live report thread are feeling preeettty silly right about now.
|
Nice that Ensnare thinks Cool will beat LiveForever. Former housemates!
|
|
I hope Cool walks over LiveForever, and Ensnare fluke wins against Rainbow so Cool will have an easier time. But a Cool-Rainbow final would be epic.
|
lol @ IntoTheRainbow saying that all matchups are easy except against another Terran
Thanks for translating!
|
Didnt know hopetorture was in a team! and i knew inca couldnt be a bm player he seemed too cheerful

So Rainbow is in StarTale. I thought so, but Tastosis keep saying he's a lone wolf.

i like how you conveniently left out the part were cool said he was very confident in zvt

"Besides TvT, everything is easy." I wonder if he reads teamliquid so he can play the opinion to his fans. Him vs Cool in the finals would be pretty awesome, unfortunately HopeTorture is pretty abusive in ZvT (which isn't a bad thing), Cool will have to come up with a crazy plan to get through, much harder to 6 pool a terran :-).

yeah finally some interesting Sc2 Interviews thx for translating. Also I got a new quote :D

Wait, actually, this doesn't make sense.
Were the interviews done immediately after the games or something (but before the next game could be played)?

I just noticed I dont know NOTHING about koreans Everyone I thought were sure wins lost ... Clide, Tester and OGS TOP being truly amazing loses since they were so godly against other oponents

Great interview.
You might meet sSKS in the finals. (to cool)

These are the translated korean interviews after the games, I believe.

I am guessing they interviewed each winner right after their games so sSKS wasn't done his games yet.
I am kinda sad i wont see him in the finals.

Yeah, the interviews were done right after the games, so before sSKS vs HopeTorture was played, so it was still possible when Cool was interviewed.
It's also why HopeTorture said he wanted to play a Protoss since the interview was done before the Ensnare-HongUn game was played.

Ty a lot. Go Cool!
Aslo Korean humbleness never fails to amaze me. Nextliveforever went beyond anyones expectations and still the first thing he does is apologizing to the people who wanted a Maka vs Cool final.

He probably had an idea of the build he wanted to do.. just not any real prep time... i mean the ro16 was night before last.. they don't have much time to prepare for opponents
however, I think the case can be made that they knew that this particular matchup in ro8 was most likely when the ro32 ended...

He's just not one to brag. I bet you he's thinking "Yea going to beat this guy!". Not everyone likes to throw their ego around. Some rather like to have no expectations and just keep their personal feelings to themselves.

Why can't Blizzard just put option like this

This way players don't need to remember type anything

Typing gg is about the player showing sportsmanship, not some technicality that has to be done. It's like shaking hands after a tennis game or whatever. Having some automatic thing like that would be silly.

I really hope we get a ZvT final.. not beacuse the game will be better and more enjoyable to watch in the finals, but beacuse I want a zerg to win the first really major sc2 tourney. To show that its possible to overcome imbalance.

Well they type it every game, seems automatic to me.
For me its just indication that game ended without any "technical" problems. Would be odd if opponent leaves without saying it then camera zooms to see if player had some problems which crashed or something.

We would be so confused by IdrA games with this option on.
"Apologize for playing that race." "gg."

Artosis claimg that TvP is toss favored, HopeTorture and Ensnare seem to disagree with that.

because the point is that a player takes the time to do it him self. its like the scripts in shooters that write something in to the chat if something specific happens. making it automatic would just make it loose all the meaning that a honest "gg" or "well playd" at the end of a game has. and to be honest, if i do not believe that it was a good game, i sure as hell do not want to write gg at the end of the game.

No man, it's not automatic or an indication of no technical troubles, it's about the players showing good sportsmanship when losing. If the computer does it for them then that defeats the whole purpose of it
EDIT: And most people do it because most people are good mannered.

Thats why give it option to enable automatic "gg" typing. Players who play GSL and BW pros has to type "gg" whether game is good or bad.

If you actually thought zerg was overly imbalanced you would be hoping for no zerg in the top 8 or top 16.. I don't think Cool winning would actually be good for zerg considering how closely blizzard is watching this particular tournament... As almost strictly a spectator for this game I don't have much to say about actual imbalance other than that it looks hard for zerg from an outside view... it's funny how zerg's "Fair" map is metalopolis, but I swear Ive seen them get beat on that map every time...
.. just thought I'd point this out... maybe Cool's plan is to 14 hatch in all 5 games in the finals and just get rolled over so bad by ITR that blizzard feels they have to fix zerg? Would be kind of funny if he likes zerg that much he'd be willing to give up that much $... obviously out of the question, but funny to think about ..
However, I don't think this one is actually gonna matter much in the grand scheme of things, GSL 2,3, and 4 are gonna be pretty epic though, lots of really good BW players switching over, and lots of players that might have got unlucky in their GSL 1 qualifiers.... could you imagine being the guy who has to play someone like say from TSL , tester maybe, to make it in to the RO64 ... even if that person is top 8 material, not gonna make it that far... That's what sucks about the first few tournaments of a game, there are no seedings, way to place people into the tournament, so it's a real free for all to get in. Look at some of skill disparities in the gsl ro64.. Im sure in time were gonna see much much closer games in the ro64 and ro32 cause more really good players are gonna be able to make it in through the qualifiers
I also like how b05 is gonna be played through ro16 if I read that correctly, maybe it's ro8.... Im a fan of finding the best player and of a good back and forth series.. this is a great bonus from a spectator's point of view
Overall, really enjoying this tournament so far, and Im hoping for Cool vs ITR finals :D

I would honestly say the nerf wasn't so big of a deal on the TvP games, because those needed more sentries.
It probably did hurt Inca though, against the lings.

If he thinks it's not a good game , then he doesnt need to type out good game in the game itself. Him directly talking to the opponent after the match and explaining why is good enough I don't know why ppl take typing out gg so seriously. It wasn't a good game to play in , and it wasn't really that good a game to watch either , a 6 pool and a baneling bust.

T is much too strong early on, but Koreans tend to favour more macro-oriented playstyles (even some Terrans) and if it gets into the lategame, Protoss is better then Terran.
Or has noone noticed that neither Zerg nor Terran wanna play a long game against a Protoss-player? Every player just all-in's against Toss.

Welp. 27 protoss joined the tournament, and all of them got eliminated. I really don't understand why some people dare to say Protoss is the strongest when there are clearly only 8 of them in the top 50 Korea. http://kr.battle.net/sc2/ko/blog/390545#blog
At least hopetorture care to admit Terran is the strongest.

Weird that Cool thinks ZvT is okay but ZvP is "tough".
If he faces RainBOw in the finals, I don't think he'll have that much chance. TOP's mass thor build was developed by RainBOw while Cool and him were both in oGs still.

Wow, this reaffirms that InCa is a great guy, for me at least. I bet all those people posting page after page after page of hate towards him for the "BM" in the live report thread are feeling preeettty silly right about now.
Actually he was probably raging hard but calmed down rather quickly after the match and apologized for it in a way that is respectful to both himself and cool. Everyone needs a good BM ragequit now and then, doesn't make them a bad person.

What a horrible, under-confident answer. This guy needs to build an ego. "but unfortunately Cool's opponent is now me." seriously?
You obviously missed the English interview, quoting from the tourny thread:
- You killed the automaton. How did that make you feel, and did it have a real effect on the game? - I didn't realize it. I was more worried about Maka. artosis: why did you send all your scvs after maka's allin failed. nexliveforever: i wanted to end it fast to get home and eat because i am verhy hungry. artosis: what do you eat at home then?. nexliveforever: regular meal

I've never understood the 'to not GG is BM' if its a crushing loss like what happened in that game, you just want to get the hell out of there and reflect on what you could of done better. Typing two letters into the chat isn't exactly on the top of your head, lol. I can completely understand not wanting to say GG, I only say GG if its actually been a good game, if I'm totally caught off guard by a rush its not a good game. I may learn something from it, but come on, no one enjoys losing I can see enjoying analyzing a loss to improve, but actually being in the middle of the loss no one likes, and even the best of the best can lose their composure sometimes.
Edit - They really gotta do something about the questions for the English cast, so few people are awake for when it is live cast, some really awful questions get asked. (Like couldn't Artosis and Tastless come up with questions of their own related to critical points in the match, would be a lot more effective I think).

HopeTorture
Besides TvT, everything is easy.
I hope blizzard sees this soooo much. Its one thing if average players cry imba or one race says imba about another (IdrA), but the own race saying its easy is sooo helpful (Morrow, Cool). This really helps the game out since it is really obvious that things need balancing and fast. Terran really needs nerfs still and Zerg needs help. I'm not sure where Protoss is as the zealot nerfs are pretty huge in all matchups.

A "GG" is the equivalent of many other sports' sportsmanship, such as exchanging handshakes after a game, no matter how badly the game might have went, or how angry or how annoyed you are. So it's bad sportsmanship, or bad manner, to not gg at the end of the game.
But this guy seemed to be pretty quick to apologize. Cool guy.

Pretty sure this is because IntoTheRainbow/HopeTorture is a super badass gigaballer.

Not really. Void Rays are easily countered when you get to a certain skill. They can't do anything against marines with stim or hydras and 1 viking can kill any amount of voidrays.
Queens also destroy voidrays once you get a few since transfusion is very powerful. In fact you have to use a phoenix to disable other queens in order to stop the transfusion or else you lose. I do this with both phoenix and void rays (+1 phoenix) or you can't deal with queens at all.
Void Rays have been significantly nerfed over time. They lost hp, their 2nd damage stage, range, and I believe there was even a slight speed nerf.

its not weird, all the top players think that.

.. just thought I'd point this out... maybe Cool's plan is to 14 hatch in all 5 games in the finals and just get rolled over so bad by ITR that blizzard feels they have to fix zerg? Would be kind of funny if he likes zerg that much he'd be willing to give up that much $... obviously out of the question, but funny to think about .. I would think it would be much more effective if he threw a match early to a Terran, both so we could say one of the best zergs lost to a nub terran and so they would see an all Terran final four.
In your scenario, the argument would be that Z are UP cause one made it to the finals and lost, totally neglecting the fact of no Protoss in semis?
Why did I reply? I'm adding to the pointlessness of this unfathomable hypothetical *facepalm*
