hey guys, Sung Min Park aka Stalife was recently interviewed. It covers a wide variety of topics, ranging from his recent results and upcoming tournaments to his thoughts on the game and his everyday routine. It is a nice read and you can check it out at:

http://myrevenge.net/index.php?site=news_comments&newsID=1497

Here is a snippet from the interview on the loved/hated "Stalife Drop":

You recently posted on TeamLiquid your new innovative idea, the "Stalife Drop". Can you explain a bit about what this is, and can you also tell us how you felt when Day9 decided to make his daily show featured around your game where you introduce the Stalife Drop?

I was really excited about the micro trick. It was completely accidental because I was trying to do something else with the medivacs. I thought it was pretty amazing that it took advantage of the sc2's incredibly smart AI. Everyone was talking about how smart it was and how it makes the game boring or less competitive, but I believe the game can evolve by players taking advantage of this sc2 AI. That led me to get ahead of myself and name it after myself, which caused lots of flames. But I was very happy that many players were supporting me, special thanks to manifesto, chease, cedric, and marth. Also, I want to thank Day9 for having a daily on me. I basically had a nerdgasm when I found out he was doing a daily on my STALIFE DROP!

Let’s talk about the Canadian scene for a bit. In a recent major RTS, Warcraft 3, there were virtually no Canadian players who could compete in the international scene except for a select few. Now in Starcraft 2 it seems like Canadians are popping out left and right and dominating the international scene. Can you tell us why you think this is happening?

We've all been hiding and secretly preparing for sc2 amused

)))) Great interview

Fuck yeeeeeeeea, Sung Min. Every time this kind of stuff with you pops-up I just wanna rush out that video interview I did with you. IN DUE TIME.

Also, once our podcast gets rolling I wanna have you on soon :D We're recording tonight.

Also, I think a really, really cool name for his micro trick would be, "Life Bombs," 'cause that's essentially what they are. It sounds epic, too.

Stalife drops are completely dependant on the opponents ability to control his banelings. If he merely has his banelings on move command instead of attack (like he should) stalife drops are worthless....

That being said, he's a really good player still.

not true because mauraders still end up targeting banelings with concussive shells instead of zerglings. Much easier to kite the little green balls of death when they are slowed down.

What advice would you give a struggling ladder player to try and get better?

I'd say just focus on one build order even when you lose. It's a pretty tedious process, but it's worth it in the end, and it helps you understand the flow of the game better, and as you really understand the game flow, you can deviate into other builds and improve them.
Very helpful/encouraging advice :D

One question I have: will Stalife be at MLG DC?! ^^

Yup, that is one of the most important things to do when you are training. That is what Korean pros do too according to Artosis. Besides sticking to 1 BO to get good at it, but you should play against 1 specific race, so you get more familiar with the matchup.

There are more applications than just dropping as his banelings are moving towards you. You can scan with your army nearby and locate his ball of lings/banelings , then fly 1 medivac with 4 mauraders overtop and drop it onto his baneling clumps while he is off macroing or w/e. Alot of times the zerg doesnt pay attention in time, and you drop mauraders on top of 8+ banelings and watch them all die. once he notices what you are doing, he most likely will shuffle his army around and thats when you move in, catching his lings/banelings in a crappy position due to the fly over/drop.

Hey backtoback, didn't do a transfer program. Computer Science at UBC is great. I'd also look at engineering as well if you're into computers, tech stuff.

I doubt I'll be at MLG DC due to several reasons... like travel expense, getting a day off at work, but the biggest factor being my skill level being pretty bad compared to other top NA players lol Hopefully I'll improve more when MLG takes place somewhere in west coast. Thanks all for taking interest haha

I had the unfortunate luck of playing Stalife in the first round of the GGI. I'll be cheering for him!
