Heres a small background story about one of the best zerg players ever to walk the Broodwar world and now transitioning into Starcraft 2 as a member os the Pro Korean team Prime.
I've picked up one of his SC2 matches and several examples of his Broodwar playstyle to relive the spirit of this awesome Zerg Master and for us all to get to know him a bit more:
The "King of the Hill" tournament that Gisado organizes is getting really popular and last week it gave us an AWESOME battle between oGssSKS -Tester- and FantaPrime -JulyZerg-...it doesnt get much better than this

JulyZerg vs TheRock - Sauron Zerg strategy
(Text taken from the youtube video description of the above mentioned video, thank you to VioletAK)
"Sauron Zerg" is a Starcraft term very rarely used because there are very few players capable of living up to its definition, and can only be accomplished by Zerg Progamers with insane Macro skills.
In this OSL game you will see JulyZerg expanding and taking control of 8 bases, meaning unlimited resources flow. He then boxes his enemy and generaly doesn't allow units to leave the contained area. Thats the perfect setting for Sauron Zerg to take place, JulyZerg starts pumping non-stop units from all those bases directly to the enemy, without even grouping them first! basicly pounding the enemy defenses with endless Zerg waves, hereby accomplishing Sauron Zerg.
Once a Sauron Zerg is in motion nothing can stop it, TheRock holds back a couple of waves, but JulyZerg can continue forever with 8 bases, within a few minutes TheRock is shattered.

as much as i dont want the bw scene to die im excited to see what the old pros have to offer sc2.. i would LOVE to see a flash vs jaedong sc2 show match! (without any practice preferably lol)
Theres already some previous threads here on TL about FantaPrime / JulyZerg moving into Starcraft 2. Also i noticed some comments on a Hong Kong forum aswell as in a Korean forum stating that it is JulyZerg.

And now I want to see Savior make a comeback. Oh hell yes, I want the to see the Maestro. I could give a shit about match fixing. I just want to scream MA JAEEEE YOOOOOOOONNNN while watching a new VOD.

Him, Hwasin, Yarnc, and Lux could form a team in jail. They'd probably be pretty good.

As far as I know Savior will be in jail very soon, and I doubt any company would let him play as a pro after the match fixing scandal. I would love to see him in SC2 though.

well he was in china and thats why he couldnt physically play the gsl. But from a players standpoint hes still contracted to kespa and stx yeah?? And being a legendary icon like nada he prolly still gets quite a tidy salary as well, unless those slumping years really hit his value hard. As such no reason to play sc2 on tv and risk his contract being torn.
As such im really doubting hes going to compete in the gsl which is a shame.

Thank you, im actuallky quite excited to see some of the oldschool BroodWar references taking a shot at Starcraft 2 and it seems more are considering jumping into the SC2 bandwagon wich i find very promissing.
After NaDa and JulyZerg i wonder who will be next popping on some showmatch or something
Sgany wrote: You forgot to mention he was the player who made Muta stacking common.
Wasent that Shark?
I think Shark came up with it, but July made it essential
July was the king of muta control before ov stacking. He frequently praises himself for being the zerg to beat a terran in the OSL finals (v GoodFriend, what happened to him?) before the muta stacking was discovered/invented.
If anything Yellow was famous for sucking even with the muta stacking. But I think Shark really deserves the full credit for both discovery and making it essential.
July has his lurkers tanking zergling damaging thing and muta stacking using minerals.

Theres wasnt that many BroodWar players as dominant as JulyZerg and being nº1 KESPA ranked isnt an easy thing to achiev.

There are no facts!! Fact implies that their must be a source, this is all hearsay and rumors. Again If u see the OP's title "JulyZerg (BroodWar) into FantaPrime (Starcraft 2)" then you would assume think this was some kind of official statement....
So yea I was politely looking for some official news/fact, when you came with your huge ego and started picking on me.... See, I didn't make fun of op, ridiculed anyone, nor denied it wasn't july I was just looking for "official confirmation".. so thanks for taking that tone with me BRO
Yep sure was a nice surprise seeing Cella hosting some great games earlier on his stream between some top level korean and chinese players. Julyzerg being one of them of course (if he is the real thing)

Man, don't take it so seriously, internet is mean place you know. I used the wrong word as a fact there, but you got the point by now i assume.
I wasn't saying anything about you making fun of op or anything. I bet the OP or rest of the thread would have an official confirmation about it if there would be, so reading the thread or the previous threads would've helped with your question there.
But yeah, he might be July, he might not. There is things which refers that he really is July playing. Nothing 100% confirmed by any proper source. Peace~
Thank you for the link to the replay between CellaPrime and JulyZerg i might just pick it up and shoutcast it
Anyway, i recall one of Team Prime managers confirming that FantaPrime, member of his team, is indeed JulyZerg, and that was enough evidence for me since i dont have any reason to doubt the Team Prime manager's word.
mass (not necessarily mass) burrow roach usage/abusage has been around for quite some time already. I know this for a fact when it comes to EU server and im pretty sure its been the same scenario at asia server.
I've just finished shoutcasting another JulyZerg match and after compressing / editing the video it will be uploaded asap (always takes a while ofc). As soon as its available on youtube i'll be posting the links here for all of us to check it out.
Man he is so good. I remember staying up and watching him win his third OSL against Best. And then picking up his golden mouse afterwards. Many people predicted a close OSL final, and there were plenty of best supporters out there but july just rolled him 3-0 in convincing fashion. I remember the third game was just pure ownage. I remember one of the commentators panning over the on going battle, and then returning to july's base, only to see like 18 ultras ready to be sent into the fray. I think there is a .gif of the minimap of that game, showing the sauron zerg in action. Just throwing everything he head at Best's base. Definently a zerg legend here.

I randomly stumbled upon a Klazart commentary (I think with Diggity and moletrap or something) of htis finals, which is how i discovered the SC pro scene. July and Best were the first progamers I ever saw in action (I knew about Boxer but had never seen his vods), so July has a direct hand in my SC obsession. Glad to see him still in the scene.

I thought more knew that JulyZerg = FantaPrime, guess it's not big news when a BW pioneer starts playing SC2. Whatever, thanks for enlightening more people OP.
I thought it was clear and 100% sure that fantaprime is NOT JulyZerg ? Fantaprime was at GSL for example when julyzerg was traveling for bw matches. Also there would have been pics of him @GSL if it was Julyzerg ?
But please correct me if i m wrong. It would be awesome IF this would be Julyzerg but i was just thought it was being clear that its not him :/

it probably has to do with july's current contract with STX. once that expires he can leave BW forever

Not fully.
But there is things that is related.
FantaPrime didn't try to qualify to GSL and at the same time July were in Shanghai to play SC1. Makes sense that he is actually July. I'm 100% sure that FantaPrime would have tried to qualify to GSL if he really wasn't July or atleast there would be a statement why he wouldn't. (same thing with TheStC from oGs.)
There was a guy who asked primes manager about this, and he confirmed that FantaPrime is actually JulyZerg.
July's contract with STX is over(?)(guess milkis is the one who said so), so why wouldn't he play SC2 fully now.
But as i said, these are only speculations which makes me atleast believe he really is July.
This post is uploaded by the manager of Prime clan himself in the clan homepage.
He says "A famous Starcraft:BW player Park Sung-Jun(name of JulyZerg) is now our clan member, and his SC2 ID is FantaPrime."
I think this is quite solid evidence.
Looks like it. Although it could theoretically be Zergman, cause they did have the same name and played the same race and was somewhat well known.
But that's highly unlikely.
Didn't milkis also say that the prime coach also said something like "as for july commentary might also be an option" ? might explain why he's not jumping into tournaments/EZ money yet.

Why the sad face? It's not like Blizzard put a gun to his head and told him to play SC2.
it's sad that we'll never see him play BW again. I really dont care about SC2 at all
he might as well be playing war3 or poker to me
Well if that's your attitude, then you're not his real fan. If they terminate his contract, what can he do? It's not like he can keep playing BW without salary. At least if he's any good in SC2, his fans could still see him.

watching boxer play poker is still just watching poker.
Well, i think theres already plenty of people / facts stating he his JulyZerg and i dont have any reason to doubt it, specially when confirmation comes from Team Managers who sits by his side most of the day while Team Prime practices.
On another note, big BroodWar reference players, even retired ones, showing up to play some SC2 cant be bad and i see it a lot more as way of promoting the game and bring part of the BroodWar community to have a go at the game.
I mean, ofc transitioning from BW to SC2 might not be as easy as we all desire but its still an effort that seems worthy to me and will payback in the future. So all this BW pro gamers showing up to play are just making that transition process smoother and showing us all that even the best of the best from BW find SC2 appealing in some way.

Passing it on google translator it turns out into "Assured Star Tail"
Im sure someone with proper knowledge of the language will be able to get it properly translated. Thank you GTR for the information, im sure there will be more pro gamers getting new ID's and if we dont find them out it will be messy.
