Maybe I just don't understand the situation, but I can't see why someone would live in Korea and not learn Korean. Doesn't this put him at a severe disadvantage? Or is English just that common among SC progamers?

My guess is that Korean is actually a difficult language to learn, and that when you're following a strict schedule of 10-12 hours a day training, sleeping and eating, all week around, you're going to not have much time to focus on learning a new language as well?

Where ever he goes he'll help out if they can speak english and/or put in the work hours with him.

Instantly became the hottest FA on the market for Foreign SC2 teams.

imho you always pick up a language kinda fast if you live there. but i dont know how much this applies to the asian languages which are very different from what we know.

i mean if you know basic latin you can pick up the basics of spanish, italian, french etc very fast. but korean or chinese etc (chinese is impossible for me. "ma" can mean horse, weed, mom and something else depending on how you say it.i gave up right there.) are a total different story.

GSL 1st place prize - $85,000
IEM 1st place prize - $5,000
MLG 1st place prize - $2,500

He's obviously not going to leave Korea. The only place you can make any serious money as a full time pro gamer is in Korea. He would be crazy to leave now.

If IdrA is really in it for the long haul, he should definitely be making more of an effort to learn the language though.

He said a while back he was actually taking Korean lessons but gave that up as it was taking alot of his time aswell as not helping him with his career as far as what Korean he was learning was all like "where is the bathroom" not "Go play X and do Y against him."

leaving CJ was the right move imo, hes a full time sc2 player, so no point being full time on cj when they are still purely BW, and probably likely to stay that way for quite a while unless things change between kespa and blizzard, hope all goes well for him.

This is interesting. I wonder if he left because there wasn't a chance of the contract getting renewed?

Smart move. He's got a good shot at the top GSL money, he'd be dumb not to leave CJ and go after it.

I think the most important part of IdrA's team is that they need to be able to sponsor him to foreigner tournaments, since that's what he spends a lot of time doing, as well as provide for his food & lodging in Korea, obviously.

I want a vulture and you are right. He probably would want to join a team with some Starcraft 2 players, but a sponsored team. I hear MBC has some Starcraft 2 players on their team now~~

Will be interesting for sure.

Meant the Korean oGs. like ensnare and fruitseller

Good luck to IdrA. I hope SC2 goes far. It would be very sad seeing his whole career go downhill since he's just a great player. Sure he might be BM online, but he seems like a smart dude, and definitely a skilled player.
