(as if JP, Tyler, Day[9], iNcontroL, and MLG_Lee haven't talked it to death already) Good job on the show guys, I really enjoyed it live, though I did not get any work done last night. I think the fact that it is live, and the interactivity makes it a lot better than just a recorded podcast, and you guys don't need video like DJ Wheat, its cool and all but just being live and responding to the irc people is awesome. No offense but this thread is 305 pages longs don't expect it to not be filled with content that is frequently discussed on the program for which the thread was created. As for the rest QFT.

As for the extended series discussion, I think it's being approached the wrong way. There's enough solid arguments either way, but it's the fact that a lot of people (both players and fans) are uncomfortable with it and would prefer to see it gone that I think should be the deciding factor here. In my opinion, an extended series situation really breaks the natural flow and logic of the tournament. That is, I think, the simplest way of summing up everybody's problem with the rule - it really feels like a rule somebody pulled out of his backside to add a twist to things. I'm not saying there's no good reasoning behind it, I'm saying it's unnatural, unnecessary and ugly. Look at it this way - if there was no extended series rule, would anybody really think "hey, this tournament format is retarded, we should really have the extended series rule to make it more fair"? Somehow I don't think so.

One guy plows through all the winters The other guy plows through all the losers Which bracket was easier? Why should the guy in the losers bracket have an easier ride to final?

I don't think you can automatically determine the losers bracket is easier given the nature that just because someone drops 1 BO3 that they are immediately inferior to the player that they lost to.

Why should the guy in the losers bracket have an easier ride to final? Except he doesn't have an easier ride to the final. He already has a harder ride to the finals, and extended series just piles on the punishment. First of all, he plays more games overall than his counterpart in the winners' bracket, thus he is more exhausted the further he goes into the bracket. Second of all, he's still playing against all the top players up to the winners' bracket finalist himself. He's definitely not playing against weaker players. In fact due to the nature of double elim, losers' bracket usually ends up being harder if not twice as hard as the winners' one for the finalist.

Why should the guy in the losers bracket have an easier ride to final? That's funny, considering they eventually end up playing the same people. When you lose in winners bracket, you meet people in the losers bracket. But I guess a guy that just lost a game is vastly inferior to what he was before he lost. I prefer double elimination because then it's equal for every player. Everyone has 2 lifes, and if you lose a game, you're down one. It's like playing Super Mario. Argue all you want that it makes an "unfair" final, but the fact is that the winner bracket guy just has both his lifes left. I'm an avid listener to this cast, and I'd say incontrols Finnish vocalization and his review of the swedish Dreamhack caster was the highlight of the podcast series so far. Keep up the good work and bad stereotypes, it's amazing!

So because he calls some of the players in the GSL crap, and then loses to MVP that somehow invalidates his point? I don't like that argument at all. And if your point was simply that Idra is arrogant and BM then yeah those are pretty much his defining characteristics.

I liked the last show, there were no painuser, which was great. I really liked Kennigit and wouldn't mind if you had him on more. I hope to hear incontrol cast more starcraft, a dream is to have him at GSL between Artosis and Tasteless.

I know, it sucks to be put against teammates in the early rounds, but the brackets should be set up so that teammates get put up against each other in the game leading up to the grand final. I guess that is not the way double elim works though.

I really appreciate Lee's attempts to be something more than an MLG parrot, which was good PR for them among the SC crowd who hates the decisions on maps, extended series, and are upset about the baby kittens inControl undoubtedly killed every time EG had to play early. Thanks, inControl, for refusing to be placated by Lee's verbal ninjitsu (he is Asian) without offering a proper argument.

World Cup -94, Sweden lost to Brazil 2-0 in the group stage, then were to play them again in the semi-final. Had this been extended series Brazil would have started the game with a 2-0 lead, which is of course completely retarded. I don't care what graphs or formulas you can come up with, that's not how sports or competition works, period. If two players meet in the first round and then later in LB sixth round, the condition for these games are very different. How the players perform when their tournament lives are at stake, metagame changes within the tournament(like Dimaga b-busting his way through terrans in that zotac during beta), fatigue, will the player who recently lost in WB tilt or enter mad gosu mode? There are just so many factors that changes from one match to another, which makes it obvious that these must be treated as separate events. This is a given in every competition everywhere, except for HALO. Go figure.

That's a sick pattern right there man. How about add the fact that the guy he beat in round of 64 was atrocious, almost as crap as idra likes to call people? Or that he was actually worried about mvp because he's one of the best players in the world? Or that he actually had pretty terrible maps, with the worst possible spawning points on his best map in the deciding game? If that series is how you judge his skill compared to his bm, then he's pretty much justified to call most people so far in gsl bad, because the quality of most games has been vastly inferior to his series earlier today.

SOIAF is the best series ever save for the fact he is killing me with his gap between feast for crows and a dance of dragons. TV show looks amazing too. I totally agree Ive read both WoT and SOIAF and GRRM is a better author then Jordan no doubt. I even checked out Jim Butcher when Day9 and Incontrol mentioned Harry Dresden, it was ok but I couldnt really get into it. Its one of those things ill read If i have nothing else. I could actively read the dictionary if it was written by GRRM. I check the Not a blog every week and have become a Jets fan hoping if the Jets win the superbowl, GRRM will feel motivated to finish the series.
