If you win the first match, you start with bonus workers, and an extra expansion. Or, if you win the match, you pick the next map. Why should loser pick if we reward winning first, seriously. If you are the better player, you should win -everything-. O wait. OR, we take off a digit of the losing player per match lost in a BO5. Looking forward to the tournament who implements this rule. | ||

Discussion of Extended series needs be skipped for a few shows (i.e 100 or so). Incontrol was pretty good. Mr MLG was way too diplomatic. Was sad Idra was kicked for some other guy. Action Jesuz is a boss. | ||

Double elimination though much better than single elimination, is slightly imbalanced in that everyone but the winner's bracket finalist is given a 'second chance'. Thats not true. Usually the player coming from the loser bracket has to win two BoX sets to take the overall final - if not, that tournament sucks. DE means that everyone who loses two sets in the whole tournament is eliminated sooner or later and that the winner of the tournament ist the only one who only dropped one set (or none).The problem with extended series is that it punishes a player that has already been punished by a) being on the brink of elimination in every set he is going to play (read: pressure) b) having to play more rounds c) having to beat the (second) best player twice in a row to win it all. Two players A and B can be so similar in terms of skill and performance that they could go 2:0, 1:2, 1:2 in Bo3s (4:4 overall) and yet player A would win because he may get the 4 wins earlier. In a game where you can lose by so small mistakes, how ist that fair? In fact, the only way where I see use for an extended series (by one game) is a case where two players in the overall final are 4:4 in terms of maps but 2:1 in Bo3s - then you could argue to just add one final and deciding map. I also think that every series is a microcosm and should be treated individually. Leading a series 1:0 might influence both players to play different than it being 1:1 or 0:1. And what I completely miss is this: why do you have to further increase the advantage that the (supposedly) better player has (or should have) anyway? In terms of fair competition it is just stupid to do that. Following that logic, you could also play a Bo1 and use the same "Well, he won, so he is better so he should get rewarded and his opponent punished!"-logic. If one player is better, then winning 1 out of 2 Bo3s should also be a completely viable way to determine this, right? | ||

Good job on the show guys, I really enjoyed it live, though I did not get any work done last night. I think the fact that it is live, and the interactivity makes it a lot better than just a recorded podcast, and you guys don't need video like DJ Wheat, its cool and all but just being live and responding to the irc people is awesome. | ||
