I'm sorry for JP, but even if he's master on NA, his cast is not very good.
It's okay, but it's definitly not his thing. He's probably better at other stuff.

Why is artosis saying that just because JP is master league that he's a good caster? That's a logical fallacy. So is saying that Korean casters aren't as good as foreign ones because they have scripts and shit. Doesn't that make them better? Like objectively better? The ability to access more resources would directly make it better to watch.

Artosis, the Korean casters aren't given some sort of live-analysis during games although they are indeed given statistics and whatnot. They actually see specific actions done by the players and they make very good calls on why the players are doing them. You think there are 20 experts sitting under the table and feeding the casters what to say?

You are the closest English speaking caster to them in terms of high level analysis, but you're missing what people like about the Korean casters, which is that they are good at analysis, not that they have statistics and good stories.

Don't people like Korean casters more because they are more energetic and bring more excitement to the table?

I don't know how a script can help with that. Of course I don't know anything about casting so I'm just talking from my limited perspective

Not just high level analysis, but also the aspect Nony mentioned; talking about all the actions in a positive light.

And yes, ''PLAYGUUUUUUUUU'' helps too.

I think the major aspect about casting is not only knowledge but also soft skills and being able to talk entertainingly and refreshing. I enjoy Tastosis, Apollo, Grubby and Hasuobs the most because they are both very knowledgable AND pleasant on the ears, refreshing and funny. No bashing intended, but because it was addressed by Artosis: I personally find JPs casting boring, no matter if what he says is based on master's level or not. That is my personal opinion.

There are casters that make me stop watching streams, there are casters I can tolerate and there are casters (the ones above) for which I would tune in even if I do not care about the players that are playing.

If you want to compare casters to normal sports, you should rather compare them to the specialists that do the preshow and aftershow analysis. Like at football world and euro cups, they always got 2-3 experts in the studio that discuss details. The normal commentary is just play by play then for a major audience. But that is also because in most sports the bigger strategical picture is not obvious all the time if it exists at all (depending on the sport).

I really have NO clue we people criticise JP's casting. He's one of my favorate casters. Why do they always pair him with Rob SImpson who thinks armory in tvp means thors?

I think the problem come with giving the camera control to JP while he's casting.
He has trouble handling both observing and casting ( every caster have the problem really ) and it make his casting worse.

Never had an opportunity to see him cast without this burden on him.

Lost what little respect for SotG I had remaining with this episode. If it wasn't for Artosis being such a consistent contributor to the show, then it would be impossible for me to actually careless about it. Even Artosis has lost a lot of respect in my eyes with mocking his fellow employees at GOM, while in no position to do so, and being so ridiculously defensive about his own casting.

JP remember when people made you nice overlays because you said your Graphic Designer was being held up. (Apparently for like 3 months)

Why didn't you use any of them?

Listen, unless you actually have better inside knowledge on how things work, then Artosis, you arent really in the position to correct him.
