He says his only concern is "winning tournaments". Therefore, he does not care about 5th vs. 6th place and it's really commonplace to see players really throw away consolation matches even if there is a prize differential once they are eliminated from winning the championship. It's a little different than "tournament results". Not saying Naniwa is correct in his behavior, but it is somewhat different.

It's not better for nani which is his points. Naniwa gets mad when he gets second place because he did not win. So to fight for a 4th place in a groupstage is meaningless to him.

Even in a situation where someone loses a series 3-0 is way different than losing a series 3-2 in the eyes of the fans. No, they weren't pointless because when he played those games he was still in contention to advance. Any game that has no "meaning" behind it is not as fun to watch. Good example for this would be pre-season NFL games where the best players don't even play most of the time.

This feels like video game music. Anyone know what it is?

The iNcontroL and Tyler bet should be the loser has to wear the other person's team jersey for the rest of that mlg event.

that translates into starcraft with not using your best strategies. what naniwa did was coming out of the locker room, throws the ball into the crowd and goes back into the locker.

if jp wants 40k, he needs to get idra, huk and cella on teh call. they are all next to each other anyways. boxer would be almost instant 50k.

I feel like Naniwa should have played a full game for his team/sponsers. But at the same time I don't blame him because tournaments should not be putting players in these types of situations in the first place. Both sides have things they need to fix!

Incontrol only goes for the easy, emotional arguments. Tyler had a more thought out overall argument, acknowledging both that it is detrimental for Naniwa, but it is what Naniwa 'thought' was the best course of action.

but the team still PLAYED. what if the entire team walks into the stadium and matches straight out? how would you feel if you were in the stands?

Incontrol is really makes this show work. The other hosts are great but incontrol is the heart of the show for sure.

Luckily Starcraft tournaments involve more than single Bo1s. These sport comparisons continue to be shit.

By making people think that you tried is no better. :/ It is for your image. Lots of people are aware that they need to hide their bad side on broadcast, and it's just immature/naive to expect otherwise. He showed everyone, and wanted to show everyone that he was a bad loser on live broadcast. Don't do stupid childish shit when you're being watched. No one goes around farting in public. Image? Don't give me that can of worms. How you paint and carry yourself is up to you and only you. That's what separates us as individuals. Everyone has selfish tendencies and this is no different. There are a lot of moments in sport where there's tension and heat. A golfer cussing because he missed a shot and throwing his club into the water. A hockey coach throwing a bench onto the ice because of a stupid call. Etc. Hiding your bad side can be difficult at times even for professionals. I don't want to go into this any further, but you think people actually get away with that shit? A golfer throwing a golf club into the water would get severe punishment. A player who shit talks a ref anywhere that can be recorded gets fined and suspended. Bad sportsmanship can be flagged in football. Shit like this happens in sports and it gets the same reaction that naniwa got. All is fair.
