The nerf was totally uncalled for and honestly relegating a unit to the reaper pile is just wrong. Also what about Tester in PvT losing automatically against a special Banshee push that killed him instantly. The best P in Korea auto killed by a special little timing. Same exact point as maka, a better player than maka only this knocked someone out of a major tourny. Sorry, the logic doesn't hold up and neither does the methodology of the nerf blizzfail there. | ||

We can't be sure what kind of VR strategy it was or how it worked. All we know is it was scary enough that Blizzard decided to adjust VRs. Given the nerfs it almost seems like it was something like the Pylon Charged VR+ gateway unit push that was gaining popularity into some sort of transition with the fleet beacon upgrade. Here's my guess as to what it may have been.... VRs+Gateway push with charged VRs to trade armies or keep the army sizes down. This also forces a less tech oriented path for the Terran player because I believe a 1:1:1 build would die to this push from my understanding. VR speed during this push (remember it's only 140s from stargate building since it's 60fleet beacon + 80 research) and that's before chronoboost. Sure it's expensive (450/350), but you could probably make it work. Next attack is VRs with speed (3.375 speed) that can outrun/dodge marines (even with stim they were only equal speed) and can hunt down or avoid vikings (2.75 speed). It seems like maybe if something like this was pulled off (possibly more to it overall) it could be really effective. If the first push limits the Terran players to being lower tech and defending with marines the 2nd push would be able to keep the Terran completely contained for a long period of time. As anyone knows, base trading vs even 3-4 void rays is suicidal at best so that's not even an option. edit... If you look carefully you can notice that the only distinct change the speed nerf has PvT is that stimmed marines (3.375) can now run down speed VRs (now 2.95 was 3.375). There is an effect vs other units like any speed upgrade, but this is a 'hard' change from equal speed to slower than. Chances are Maka sent in a whole pack of replays of trying to figure out how to handle the strat efficiently even with blind countering and didn't come up with much. | ||
