Although short, still was funny and certainly had a sotg feel to it. Be awesome if they did it tommorow and sunday as well

Oh and from what I understand this will make the people who want to see less Koreans at MLG happier since now a set number of foreigners are guaranteed.

It sounds like 4 live events to cap off each quarterly season, with regional online qualifiers leading up to each one. What I didn't really catch was whether or not there would still be invites and an open bracket.

At the very least they could have started 10 minutes earlier when they were all sitting on stage looking at day9's cell phone while terrible music played. Not blaming the "pillars" for this btw, just sayin it's lame that MLG would call that "state of the game" It sounds like you had some unrealistic expectations and should be assessing that before you go on a rant about MLG.
What exactly would be some realistic expectations? When I hear that a SOTG is going on, I expect Starcraft nerds talking about Starcraft for a couple hours. That's what SOTG is and what it has been for as long as I've been watching it. What they just showed on the MLG stream was basically just a 30 minute recap of the day with SOTG hosts and an announcement by MLG staff.

This really left me wanting more. Tasteless uncensored is soooo great

Let's take a look at the regions of the players that played today
17:30 EDT (Z)IdrA vs (T)Bomber NA vs KR 18:30 EDT (P)HuK vs (Z)CoCa NA vs KR 19:30 EDT (Z)DongRaeGu vs (P)Trickster KR vs KR 20:30 EDT (P)NaNiwa vs (T)Rain EU vs KR 21:30 EDT (T)SeleCT vs (Z)DongRaeGu NA vs KR 22:30 EDT (Z)Ret vs (T)NaDa NA vs KR 23:30 EDT (P)NaNiwa vs (P)HuK EU vs NA
17:30 EDT (T)SeleCT vs (T)TLO NA vs EU 18:30 EDT (P)KiWiKaKi vs (T)NaDa NA vs KR 19:30 EDT (T)SjoW vs (T)Bomber EU vs KR 20:30 EDT (P)NaNiwa vs (T)Rain EU vs KR 21:30 EDT (T)SeleCT vs (Z)DongRaeGu NA vs KR 22:30 EDT (T)Rain vs (Z)CoCa KR vs KR 23:30 EDT (Z)IdrA vs (T)SjoW NA vs EU
The big appeal of MLG is seeing all these different regions playing against each other. The regional qualifiers that they're gonna be hosting are gonna be so much smaller and less epic in comparison. I can watch a NA vs NA, EU vs EU, or KR vs KR game any day of the week basically.
Maybe the finals will bring back the feeling that the regular MLG's this year have with the cross regional opponents, but I wouldn't expect a huge viewer turnout for the regional qualifiers.

With the mic situation I'm kind of glad it was cut short. I don't really consider it a SOTG episode, it was a nice attempt though.

I'm not asking the Casters/players slave for another hour or two for my enjoyment. I'm asking them not to say SOTG, when what is going to happen is a glorified recap.

Short and sweet. Thanks for it JP! I'm glad you decided to put something on. It's pretty cool that so many fans stuck around as well as Geoff, Sean, Dan, and Nick stayed around for it. I'm sure they were all tired as fuck so glad it didn't last too long. Gotta let Geoff get some rest so he can make a run through the championship bracket.

Who cares what they call it? Seems like it's appropriate as anything to use the SotG name when you have most of the hosts there. It's really sickening to watch people on this site repeatedly work themselves into a frenzy over disappointment caused by no one other than themselves.

To be clear: the qualification process we spoke about was solely for pool play. The open bracket and giant events are not going anywhere. This systems just creates a direct, global, avenue into the top tiers of competition based on immediate performance results. More access, more global competitors, better competitions.

I'm not in a frenzy. I'm not calling JP or day9 or anyone names. I'm not saying MLG is horrible. I just expected a little more.

Yeah there's a difference in being in a raging frenzy and just stating the fact that what they called a "state of the game" show was not up to the standards of the show (ie: 1/12th of the usual time, didn't discuss the state of the game) and some of us are disappointed that MLG would bill this daily recap (which I liked btw and agree with the others saying they should do it every day) as a state of the game. Mild, but valid disappointment which should be voiced by the people who feel that way in an appropriate manner in order to improve the experience of MLG.
