I think the problem she has is she is talked over a lot and doesn't get the spotlight much (mostly b/c of JPs moderating which rarely gives guests a chance to talk).
You think so? JP is usually good about not talking too much and only asking questions. Seems to me JP just forgets to get Leah's input. And frankly, Leah is still just a regular person and won't have as much to contribute as the others. I still like her and all, but it's the truth.
JP doesn't talk nearly as much as other moderators (i.e. Wheat)

Leah rocks plus she is more dialed in to the scene than a majority of the nubs out there that listen. iNcontroL adds controversy and controversy spurs popularity.

so because she isn't terrible, she's somehow a perfect fit?
The logic here escapes me.
A gold level, casual player, doesn't have a place on SOTG as a regular, entire-show member.
A cameo like anna? absolutely! But for two hours...

Meh, it's nice to have the typical testosterone fest broken up with a female voice.

Not like she's a key figure in the development of ESports or anything. Plus, if she wasn't there, JP and Artosis would never remember which GSL game they are talking about, they'd just say "What was that one awesome PvZ?" Then Lisa comes in reminds everybody of the players, and the round, and which game it was. She's good for the cast.
|
I agree, SoTG is a super analytical take on SC2. I really hope it stays that way, too. In that framework Leah adds nothing. JP is masters and even he doesn't understand the game as well as the usual guests. Let her have her cameo, or when they're talking about fun stuff.
Asking her hardcore questions and getting bad responses wouldn't help either.
I don't know, I hope things get better.

And therein lies the root of the problem. I'm really, really tired of them doing nothing but discuss tournaments, results, and who's playing in them. It made sense when there was just GSL and the occasional other tournament, but there are just far too many now.
I want my metagame, balance, and drama arguments back. SOTG really just feels like it's becoming little more than compiled tournament announcements.

I've got the same feeling, the problem is also that they each give their opinion, but there is very few back and forth discussion , which makes the whole thing boring at times.

Yep. How much back and forth can there be when the subject is "rosters for MLG *insert next monthly tournament location here*"

EG recognized they fucked up would be nice if we could heal the wound!" So JP let him back on please!
do you have a link to this "AMA on reddit" ?

Just want to post in this thread to register my continuing support for this pillar of the community, being SotG. I grew to really enjoy InC on the show and I'll continue to enjoy and tune it without him being a part of it all. Though officially, I would say he added a component to the show it has been lacking since his departure.

so, maybe that is just me, but ... isn't having "tournament results" to back up your opinion on meta game and balance a pretty nice thing?
And Leah does not only know tournament results, but is, as Skank already said, a figurehead of ESPORTS. In fact, she might not have the knowledge of the players on that cast, but on the other hand she asks some questions that are really interesting to the community. It's nice to have someone in there to have another view on the game and the community itself.
So all in all she is a pretty good addition to the cast, I like her work.

I agree with this. She asks some pretty good questions

B-B-B-BRING BACK iNcontrol!
Even if he goes on a propaganda campaign for the EG/Puma scandal I won't care, as long as we get some drama going with some friendly troll bait all around!
|
Was state of the game on last night? The blog site hasn't been updated yet.
|
Is there a general cliff notes of what was discussed last night? Anything really interesting?
|
Strange, I would've thought he would be too busy practicing SC2 to appear on State of the Game.
Anyway, 5 people + guest(s?) would be too much, and I don't wanna give Artosis up.
|
Incontrol coming back would certainly liven it up and make it much more fun, but I wouldn't swap Leah out for him, she was something of the spine of the show in her appearances, she asks the important questions and she knows more about recent matches and results than anyone else seems to, she's damn good. If I had to choose I'd take out JP for Inc, he is incredibly restrictive to the flow of the cast, forcing turns and stupid rules like no reasoning, as well as often being a buzzkill when some actual conversation gets going by saying some super retarded joke which just invokes awkward silence. Though obviously that's not really possible as he is the host.
|
I say let it mature with the current cast. Can't think of anyone who I would want replaced.
|
I really hope that Inc is added in. And Leah a pillar now? With Nony day Inc artosis a's pillars, it may be too many providers but still they known each other for years and they will bring back the old casual feeling rather the more dry Q&A now... Still a fan thou. :D
