Remember, Battle.net 2.0 is work in progress. What a lot of players don't read in the rage is the part where Frank Pearce is talking about Clan chat and Groups chat. That is definitely being worked on. If you check back to our last Twitter dev chat, there was the same question (http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=23767157319&sid=3000):
"We do have plans for chat channels. Specifically, we want to organize chat channels around users' interests so you know what types of conversations you are going to get into when you join a channel. This feature is not something that will be in for beta. Currently we plan to do this feature in a patch after the game launches. "
I guess this is of zero interest in a thread dedicated to raging about how there will be no chat channels in SC2.

Once again Group chat does not equal chat channels.
Some of us are tired of Blizzard telling us who we can and cant play with and what we can and cant talk about. Some of us dont want to wait a year and a half for basic community features.

It's great you're sitting on some info on this. Please give just a brief explanation to what chat channels for groups are.

Sure here is one example.
Lets say you want to find a teammate. Your new and you dont belong to a clan. You want a Looking for Group Chat Channel. But you cant. You know why? Because Frank Pearce thinks the matchmaker is so good that you dont need it.
Do you see how having someone dictate what kind of communication you can and cant have might be a problem?

(but you need to know these people)

Holy crap, I won't waste more time on you, sorry. You managed to come up with an example not even remotely related to any implication of group channels.

lol long shanks you asked what group channels are. I told you group channels are blizzard choosing what you can and cant talk about. If you dont like that answer...

How can you know how group channels operate if they haven't even been implemented yet?
The only thing I've read is how party chat works, but there's no reason to assume the group chat will work like that.

Because Blizzard said they want to control what we can and cant talk about. Right now you might want a looking for group channel but Frank Pearse doesnt. Guess what.

I would have never socialised with the majority of the people I did on war3 bnet if it weren't for chat channels. After randomly matching the same people on top of the US.West ladder you begin to build rapport but surely not enough to strike up a private conversation through PMs. Stumbling in to the same chat channel and seeing them there is like seeing them in a pub or at the same party. This is how most of my connections began and this is how others contacted me.
I liked going in to a chatroom and others saying hi. Others who I knew and others who I did not. I will miss that.

You obviously should not be supplying people with information.

i think you should edit in the blue post to the OP of this thread.

From the OP
Loads of people within the community are wanting Looking For Group chat rooms, and that sort of thing.
Well, if we've done our job right in terms of the matchmaking service, then hopefully they won't feel like they'll need it for that service. -Frank Pearce

I hate b.net 2.0, if I didn't absolutely love Starcraft I would quit completely.

perhaps an edited version, but it does mean they[blizzard] are listening. blizzard has been silent for the past 3 or so days, ever since this interview. Since the beta is ending, I think they would have had more interviews by now on the subject.

A Blue saying "We appreciate your feedback" is not new information.
