So, assuming you have beta, you played all this time on BNet 2.0 with an active pre-order, and it wasn't til you came here and read a thread about the history of Blizzard-Activision that you suddently hated BNet 2.0 enough to cancel your pre-order?
Care to explain what you read that changed your mind and experience on BNet-to-date so incredibly drastically?

I´m not following anything that is happening with SC2. not even played yet. I´m not caring much about the balancement for now, if game is goor or not, or other minor features.I have plans of buying it anyway. But now, the "NO CHAT" is something that got me with my pants down. If that true I don´t feel like buying SC2. Chat is part of the game. is where you meet new people and feel being in an community.
Can someone that is following everything tell me WHY NO CHAT? i tried to figure it out, reading some comments to help but still have NO IDEA WHY they would cut the chat. WHY?

Skela,
dont worry about the chat room problem. i am sure we will have it, as long as we pay the additional fee..

I´m going to buy SC2 anyway, but if they kill Kespa (or Korean Esports) i´m gonna throw a bomb at the activision germany building, u can take that as serious as you can be on an internet forum.
Edit: Most of the time piracy wins, so looking forward to ingame IRC cracks and Private Crossrealm Servers.

Take your pick:
Chat is soooo 2002
OR
Do you really want chat?

Husky has a video on youtube about it. he heard that the idea came from a dev who worked on XBox Live which does not have a chat room.
at the same time, they also claimed that clan functions (currently removed from Bnet 2.0) will be implemented after launch, but before Heart of the Swarm.
there is currently believe that Blizz may be implementing these functions as premium functions available for an additional fee.

FYI I was able to cancel my pre-order through GameStop despite the fact that if you use the beta key you aren't supposed to be able to cancel your order. My friends order was on my ticket as well so his order is gone too (whether he likes it or not! nah, he can just buy it at walmart if he wants to on release) Here is the email that I sent them: "I was told by my local GameStop manager that if the game was not to my liking that I could cancel my pre-order. I would like to do that at this time. Thank you"
I've seen quite a few posts on here about others who have canceled their pre-orders of SC2 so I would like to start a poll on the matter just to get some #'s on the TL communities response...
Poll: Are you buying Starcraft 2?Waiting to see if Blizz will address the issues first (178) 48% Going to go thorugh with the order despite bnet 2.0 (78) 21% Due to the lack of bnet features I have/will cancel my pre-order (65) 18% I won't purchase any of the expansions unless they get their act together (50) 13% 371 total votes Your vote: Are you buying Starcraft 2? (Vote): Due to the lack of bnet features I have/will cancel my pre-order (Vote): Waiting to see if Blizz will address the issues first (Vote): Going to go thorugh with the order despite bnet 2.0 (Vote): I won't purchase any of the expansions unless they get their act together

You'd do really well to read this and reconsider your post. The internet isn't as anonymous as you'd wish it was. http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/05/10/briton-convicted-for-menacing-tweet-against-robin-hood-airport/

this just goes to show how we can bitch all we want - it wont change a thing... times have changed and community just doesnt matter anymore, like someone said before, ppl are gona buy SC2 no matter what, i know i would, and blizz knows that so they can do whatever they want

AFAIR BlackOps will have dedicated servers

The options on that poll are a little weird. I have cancelled my preorder with a view to waiting to see what Blizzard do to address the issues. Given the uproar that has ensued following the FP interview, it would seem a little silly to not cancel your preorder and "wait and see", unless there is actually a downside to cancelling your preorder? Sorry if there is, but I'm sure Blizzard tracks pre-orders and it's just another helpful way of adding a little pressue if it isn't going to cost you.

Some people pre-ordered the CE that likely will not be available if they cancel that pre-order to wait. Other people just want the added guarantee they get the game on release night. Other people say, why not keep the pre-order if I'm going to buy it on release night?
If you're not planning to buy it the first night anyways, then why did you pre-order in the first place?

Q. Hi. So many people are complaining about this on the forum... is it true that there will be no chat channels? I hope not!
A. We do have plans for chat channels. Specifically, we want to organize chat channels around users' interests so you know what types of conversations you are going to get into when you join a channel. This feature is not something that will be in for beta. Currently we plan to do this feature in a patch after the game launches.
This is from the DEV twitter chat.
Why do people insist on spouting incorrect information?
THERE WILL BE CHAT CHANNELS, just not in the beta, is that so incredibly hard to understand or do I have to draw you a fucking picture?
And NOTHING has been said... even hinted at premium fees like making chat channels or something else a buying requirements. Stop making shit up.

I agree with you about the twitter chat. I'm not sure what's changed since then, if anything. I'd believe the Twitter chat over the interview, however.

Well I was planning on buying it the first night, then I discovered all this disingenuous policy rubbish, so I cancelled it. I can still pre order it again at any stage between now and release and be pretty much guaranteed to have it by then anyway, I assumed there would be a fair few people in that position.

Why not add a link for people to go see on their own it might calm people down a bit but I've got a feeling it was said after the interview to try an soothe some rage.

A) That is not chat channels
B) They reference user intrests. Frank references groups and clans. The community has no idea what the final version of this "promise" will look like. It might go the same way semi lan did.
C) Frank pretty much dismisses looking for group channels
D) Its my first time playing Starcraft 2. I log on and see...what? A cold empty void with a button that just says PLAY. Great community building.
E) Basic community functions put in one year after release doesnt make this any less of a detriment. The ability to communicate and play as a community should have been goal number 1 for Starcraft 2.
