If Blizzard decides not to implement the features the fans want, are we going to have the same thing happen here? If so, it seems like it will do a lot of damage to the community. Instead of having one place where everyone plays, suddenly there's one place where people who care about these things play, a place where these things are somehow implemented by the community (think iccup 2.0), and one place where everyone else plays. | ||

You know, when SC2 was announced, I was just so incredibly excited. I just couldn't wait. I volunteered for a prominent fansite as a news reporter, and spent time every day trawling through the internet for scraps of information. Since then day, with each announcement, my enthusiasm for this game has slowly ebbed away. I realise now that the only thing that's been keeping me going on this game is my faith in Blizzard to get the job done, and do it right. I have has more trust in Blizzard than any other company, ever. But reading this, I just can't help but feel my faith has been misplaced. They have no intention of fixing any of the major problems with b.net 2.0, and the game simply isn't good enough for me to overlook that. The hundred tiny cuts have finally slain me. I'll be spending my money elsewhere. | ||

Bnet 2.0 sucks so bad at the moment that I wouldn't be at all surprised to find myself going back to Quake 3/Live if there aren't some marked improvements in the release version. Despite the fact that I really enjoy the game itself, I find myself never playing more than 4 games in a row.. just because I hate the platform so much. I'm also incredibly pissed that I won't be able to get my old highschool friends together to LAN some SC2; I really hope the hackers have been hard at work on this. I suspect a single cable connection will be GARBAGE for getting 4-8 people playing SC2 on bnet. tl;dr: QQ | ||

Concerning this, a key aspect is how can you popularize a competition when you hinder their capabilities? I don't know if you follow any sports but I'm sure you can sympathize with this concept: how can any sport be popular when its best potentials and moments can't be displayed because of hindrances caused by its owners? People are excited over sports because of the spectacular moments they create. Now imagine all those moments and cut them by half because there was lag. Yes, I want Blizzard to be profitable...well I don't necessarily want that specifically but I will support a company that produces good content. But when they say they listen to the community and don't address a very valid issue posed by the community that is just bullocks. When they say they listen and a guy representing them says in an interview "Do you REALLY want chat channels?", then that is just...ignorant and infuriating. Finally I'd like to point out that I understand your standpoint. That as long as things are balanced you don't care about the other things mentioned. You aren't part of the community of gamers that enjoy features like channels or cross realms. That is totally fine. But the part that is convoluted in your post is that you are using your attitude towards something that you don't care about to argue against it. That is saying...I don't give birth; it doesn't affect me so I don't think women should be allowed to seek abortions. QFT. I mean, what is their reasoning for NOT having chat rooms? If what people were asking was some sort of super advanced and hard to implement feature, fine, but chat channels? How hard can it be to make them? And his response to why chat channels aren't needed was "If we make a good matchmaking system, you shouldn't want to do anything other than play".. That's plain out dumb | ||
