For example: try building something like a missile turret and floating a building over top of it to hide it. From certain angles, the missile turret will not be visible, but if you move the screen left or right a bit, you will be able to see it, despite the fact that the building floating over top of it has not moved.

Even if a new notification comes out, you can click icon next to "nuclear launch detected" and it will show where the nuke is aimed at. You don't need a small dot to tell u where it is. This was patched a while ago not to work for nukes.

There should not be a difference in vital information between graphics settings.

No nexus? Try nuking right on the tip of minerals. Almost as good as the nexus corner, but less situational.

That makes no sense. This must be one of those things that is a low priority for Blizzard (or a bug that hasn't been reported yet), because I can't imagine them deciding that this is how it should be. Technically, it's very easy to draw the nuke dot as a sprite sans depth test (so that it is drawn over top of everything), among other possible low-tech (though not very aesthetic) solutions. There's no technical reason why anyone should need advanced lighting capabilities to see the dot. Furthermore, if you can actually hide the dot behind structures or units (e.g. rotate the camera and nuke behind a stationary overlord) then that's just bad gameplay. Assuming this is not the case, at higher graphics settings, I'd imagine the dot is treated as if it were a laser coming from the camera's point of view to avoid having it hidden behind something while still achieving some kind of realistic-looking 3D effect. Or if that's too resource-consuming, they could go with the simple sprite solution. A lot of people seem to think that this is some kind of limitation on 3D games, but it's not at all.

Yeah, things like nuke dots, force fields and cloak unit movement should be standard across all of the graphics settings. At the moment this is penalising anyone who runs on the lower settings for whatever reason, making nukes that much more powerful against them.

Having changed the graphics settings I cant seems to replicate the 'invisible' red dot now.

Apparently, (and I learned this the hard way the other day), if your enemy attacks you with traditional units either a split second before or a split second after (not sure which) launching his nuke. The "Nuclear Launch Detected" Warning literally does not go off, and is overridden by the more standard "your units are under attack" or whatever. My opponent attacked me and I watched his small force of marine and marauders try to harass my expo and laughed as I cleaned up with my roaches/hydras. I was not laughing quite so hard when a nuke dropped on my Liar 5 seconds later with zero warning. My partner in 2v2 also did not get a warning, we watched the replay and verified, so it was not just me.
