Also you should make sure that no custom portrait can exploit your code and delete all my replays or sth like that ^^ Care was taken when designing the custom portrait system. Users only submit images which are reviewed first, and those images (and only images) are distributed by the Sc2gears system "on demand" from internal servers on a secure channel.

And the solution is: launch the task manager! I don't actually have to do anything in it, it is just enough to launch it. (I di it to check for running processes off the exe file to kill, but no need to). Quite peculiar, isn't it? (windows 7)

Those might block Sc2gears to update/replace the Sc2gears.exe. If that is the case, either disable the anti-virus while you update Sc2gears, white-list Sc2gears.exe if there is an option for that, or update manually (download and extract the new zip and copy the "User content" from the old version to the new one to keep your settings and data).

I do not run an anti-virus, but anyway, if copying the content is just enough to do the update (a very ncie feature!), I can just do that next time. I wrote my message mainly out of curiosity, as I cannot think of a mechanism that does what I see (becasue I do not DO anything in the taskman).

The auto-update does some other polishing, so that's the preferred way, but if you can't get it to work, manual update will also work.

Half the time I forget to turn it off and have a whole bunch of team games/ums games saved cluttering up my folder. With Sc2gears you can easily search for games that you don't care about, select them, right click and "Delete replays..." And to answer your question: Answer on the FAQ page

Edit: in system messages it says it doesn't support any of the latest replays. I've deleted by sc2gears folder, and re-extracted the latest, with no change. I r confuse . Editx2: It even says in the folder that the files were last modified 23/05/2011, which coincides with the latest update, but its still 4.0 :/.

I can think of 2 explanation for this: -You have Sc2gears 4.0 on your system, and when you think you start the newly downloaded 5.4, you still start the old version (a shortcut that you may use points to the old version). -You have an old version running (4.0), and by default only one running instance of Sc2gears is allowed which means if you attempt to start a new instance, it will only bring forth the running instance.

The way it is now it is a real pain to find a TvZ (me as T) when half the replays are actually ZvT.

Would it be possible to add an option for random players, so that p1 will always be the user? Maybe via a namelist that prioritizes the owner as p1, or add a prefix to the race like "rPvZ" for example. The way it is now it is a real pain to find a TvZ (me as T) when half the replays are actually ZvT. Have you looked at one of the tutorial videos for SC2 gears? They can be found here: http://sites.google.com/site/sc2gears/howto-use-videos I believe both of them teach how this is done, and there is also more info to be found on the website "how to use". As far as "adding a feature that prioritises players" goes.... the feature you request already exists! http://sites.google.com/site/sc2gears/faq#TOC-What-is-the-favored-player-list- What is the "favored player list"? The favored player list is a list of players you're interested in. For example your name and your friends' name. Players on the favored player list will be put ahead of others when renaming replays, or when you open a replay in the Replay analyzer. The favoured players list can be found in 'Miscellaneous Settings -> Analyzer'. Just add any players you wish to be prioritised, seperated by commas. eg: nimbim, Hairy, Idra, Artosis Assuming your name is first on the list you will always be the first named player in replays.

Oh and even better my game directory has been reset to C:\program files\ so my recent replays haevn't been saved. I've been using SC2Gears for a good while now; patches don't touch your user settings when updated automatically. And if (for some reason) you wanted to completely replace and download a fresh version instead, on the downloads page it quite clearly says: "If the self-updater doesn't work for you, just download manually the latest release, extract it to anywhere, and optionally copy the "User content" folder from the old version to keep all your settings and logs" Replays already saved with a bad name is not a problem - you can still manually copy/rename huge batches of replays using SC2Gears whenever you desire. It's hardly the software's problem if you go ahead and revert to default settings and/or overwrite the software without backing up your user settings now is it?
