I guess his popularity bot calculator told him that defending this opinion has nothing to lose and a little to gain, so defending this opinion is good. But still, incontrol haha. Personally I don't care about this debate, I have no definitive opinion. But each time incontrol debate about a thing it makes me side for the other side. Because I hate his debating approach, which is the same approach as politician on TV. They don't care about making sense, they just want to win the approval of the listeners. Pure demagogy. Tell me about it, he is so blatantly trying to "score points", same thing when he was discussing with Tyler on Stog about the whole EG masters thing. Loved the fact that when djWheat brought up his indian chief impersonation he started going all, "do as I say, not as I do". What a hypocrite.

I'm with destiny on this one. EDIT: Regarding the use of rape and racial offensive words in casting. You should be able to say whatever you like on the internet as long as the context isn't to offend anyone. A word IS just a word. + Show Spoiler + I raped that marine. You're also okay with using "gay" "faggot" and "nigger" to describe things right? The context isn't meant to offend anyone, but the people whom the words have some personal meaning to ARE offended. I guarantee you something reverberates with you too. If you're adopted and I called you a motherless bastard without knowing, you would get pretty offended (whereas the average person probably wouldn't). Or if I called you a fatass in a joking manner and you actually were fat. I actually wouldn't, cause I know they were not intended as such. If someone comes up to me in person and start screaming profanities about my childhood and my family I'd take offence for sure. But if someone tells me he's gonna rape at starcraft 2 I will not flinch an inch lol. I'm not going in this discussion on the internet in my second language. I don't feel I can express my opinions correctly. You americans and canadians go ahead. I'll listen ![]() That's the thing. You don't care about rape because it didn't happen to you. But you care about insults to your family because it actually is applicable to you. Now imagine how offended you would get if someone insulted your family. That's how rape victims would feel (except probably much worse) when people start tossing profanities about rape around. I myself am not even close to perfect (despite trying to correct my habits, I do slip up with using words like "gay" and "rape") but I can recognize it's an actual problem and something that takes a little effort on my part but might make a huge difference to someone else. You're misunderstanding me. I'm fine with people using words related what happened to me and my family. If someone is SPECIFICITY insulting me it does not matter what words he use, I'll get offended. But the WORDS THEMSELVES ARE IN NO WAY OFFENSIVE unless given context. Btw, you misunderstanding me perfectly shows why I should not be having this discussion. I will not reply to the next one lol. Take it in a PM if you like, but I will not get offended. Me and many with me, words are just words.

For those who think it's acceptable i'd pose one simple question, why is it that amongst a community which is primarily young, straight males the reflex insult of choices is a homosexual slur? Furthermore don't you think that this is a telling fact amongst a sub-culture that is traditionally so concious of its 'masculinity' and reflects an almost implicit, defensive homophobia? go watch the south park faggot episode i violently disagree with south park's lazy libertarian arguments on this issue, there's no intellectual depth to it. They ignore the importance of a cultural context and tell people to get over it. I'll also note that you didn't answer my question, i would be interested if someone could.

If one person of his 3000 viewers gets offended by him saying "rape", he should not stop saying rape. That one person should be the one that changes, since they are the extreme minority, or they should no longer watch that stream. The end of it. Any other option, such as censoring for the minority, is fucking stupid. So dictation of the majority? Just because all people think what you think it's not valid. That's simply the stupidest argument ever made. What it should be? One person changes 3000? By that logic everyone would be offended by everything...

You don't see people whose relatives were killed getting offended when you say "kill", even though that's worse than rape. And if you do, that doesn't stop people from saying it all the time. So yeah, some of those words definitely didn't belong. Others did. And as for the whole "self improvement" thing, both sides should be working toward that. Everyone should be toughening themselves up and dealing with the fact that people are going to use words that offend them, but everyone should also be consciously making an effort not to offend people. If that happened, the words wouldn't be used much and they'd have time to sort of "cool off" and not have so much stigma behind them. They just need a break. Great show though. I only caught the end of it, but it was fun.

I was the black guy who called in to say I have no problem with it in the right context. I am also kind of fed up when people like Geoff try to put words in my mouth about how I should feel when Destiny or anyone else for that matter uses those words. I understand he's trying to turn over a new leaf but tbh I have heard way less offensive things in hours of watching Destiny's stream than I have over the course of a few episodes of SOTG from him. I just get the impression he isn't 100% being sincere when he says all that he does. Again I will temper my words by saying that obviously not all black people will agree with me but I will say that almost all those who participate in a gaming community will.

While I'm kind of annoyed/confused about the ultra PC mentality of a lot of posters I dont think it's really worth continuing the argument here. I mean it's about a couple of words that some people get offended by, just chillax and go do something more worthwhile imo. Just a curse word like any other, no intended offensive or racist implications on the internet, hell 99% of the time you don't know who you're talking to.

If anything, people should widen their vocabulary beyond those 4-5 ones. I mean, there's over 50,000 words in the English language. Open a fucking dictionary. I've got a lot of respect for iNcontrol right now. And next to none for Destiny.

Because I cannot see any other context apart from the racist context. Well... 1. Racist context: Offensive to call someone a nigger/nigga. Considered racist. Rooted in slavery, etc. 2. As an alternative to bro/dude/etc: Usually only acceptable between two African American people. Or in some cases between an African American person and his/her close friend (but with the African American person's prior consent).

There might be those with such disabilities who get bullied, called 'retard' at school etc. who enjoy the relief of going to their computer, turning on some NASL games (or whatever you might be casting) only to hear that offensive word again, this time used as a reference to something stupid/bad. You're doing a good thing man. Was very nice that we didn't have to see that 1950's quote go unanswered, was disappointed in Wheat when he said nothing (chill as well, especially since he didn't want to be "one of the three white guys in a studio" - ok, congratulations chill, you can be the one who was silent, is that really better?). Cheers guys.
