Does anyone else just feel like a lot of this shit with balance is really dancing around the issue that matches are EXTREMELY.. tiltable. Like the game hinges 100% on simply winning a single battle or getting away with some economic thing(Typically this is how Z works) that lets you get a force that cannot be fucked with.
I just can't help but feel all the units are paper, harassment is very difficult to pull off after the first few minutes of the game & scouting is so difficult every race has to guess a bunch in the early game effectively making shit FEEL like rock/paper/scissors.
ugh. thats where im at with this game. theres always new stuff to learn and its fun to compete which keeps me playing but I'm so concerned with the direction of the game

I'd agree with this actually
the slippery slope in this game is really like a fucking 80° Cliff face. This is especially bad because of units like marauder who slow units, and the fact that rallied units come out attacking.
So like say my expo is being threatened by a few marauders and a few marines leftover from a larger battle that just happened. I can't rally my lings/roaches away from the men without half of them dying. So terran reinforcements are coming and I just have no chance to comeback or save expo at all.
And then there are units like sentry who offensively forcefield ramps and keep your reinforcements from coming out to help, so your army is divided and you lose the first one , and then when the field wears off you lose the 2nd one.
Also, There is no high ground advantage (via miss percentage). This makes the slippery slope even harder because melee units funneling down a ramp at your own base just get raped. Usually the high ground is only coming from YOUR bases so less units are needed to control this terrain. Now all you need is an overlord. Players don't fear the high ground at all because it doesn't mean shit.
Scouting is really inefficient early game because workers are too easily repelled/killed. So we are usually trying to get tier 2 to scout, and since these tech routes are not cheap, there is a problem with being able to have the correct units to deal with any timing attacks before this.
harrassment sucks as well, because of stupid things like auto surround/auto target. So like if I have 6 lings, click a probe, 2-3 of them will hit that probe, and the remainder will just attack whatever is nearby. And if the probe slides away, the first 2-3 also just attack whatever. Not to mention ling DPS is lesser than it was in BW.

yep venom, at least as zerg all games for me end if i lose 1 battle. To boost my winratio tenfold i did a simple adjustment- stopped attacking at all. I deny bases, i take fights in the middle but i never try to attack their main or natural.

also this, remember in BW how trading bases was usually bad? Now it's even worse, attacking at all is bad, haha wtf. Most my wins in TvZ are just expand, defend, map control, defend from drops air rushes, map control, etc. Tech up to Imbalords.
