You'd think that SC:BW fans would have at least tried blizzard's next RTS a bit before realizing it sucked... :p Some good functionalities were brought back which is great (backspace, tabbing through subgroups, healthbars etc...).
Also, to those who still talk about transfering workers: mineral walking is OUT!! Why the hell would you bother clicking another mineral patch when you could click ANYWHERE to get your workers out of there? It doesn't go any faster if you clic a mineral patch.
I doubt I'll ever use the backspace key since it's too far off on the keyboard, but it's good the functionality is here so we can reassign it later with custom hotkeys.

Ummm no workers still phase when sent to mine minerals I've had several instances where I've told drones to make spine crawlers at the bottom of my blocked ramp and they will continue to be blocked until I tell them to mine minerals from my expo fist.

Looks like I found a key to bind to G12 on my G15 Keyboard lol.

They should put it on the `~ key next to the 1

(Or maybe they snuck it in with the last patch... sneaky bastards)
Thats because he's not the first one to find it, I am amazed all you guys are just now finding this, its been stated in probably 35 other SC2 threads, which I guess you guys skipped.
And it sucks, its way too far away to actually use correctly, its actually faster to use the minimap because it wont make you move your left all the way across the keyboard.
If they mapped this to ~ or F2 it might be useful.

Hammy, STFU.
Mineral walking is NOT out....which you would probably know if you
would have at least tried blizzard's next RTS a bit

Noob with first post here. Why don't you just rebind the key? After reading this thread now i mapped Mouse5 to backspace, but you could do it with another key as well. Or do you already use mouse/other keys for useful things?

This is going to help my a lot. Nice find!

Why would they choose backspace over f keys?

Editing hotkeys requires tampering with game files, which I believe violates the Beta EULA.

also with protoss I just found out that as soon as you get your 1st warp gate, an icon will appear bottom right screen with the number of available warpgates. You can click on it or you can hit 'W' and you will select all the warp gates automaticly. Any new warp gate will automaticly be tagged to the 'W' key.

I meant on an OS/Hardware level (e.g. in your mousedriver binding a key to some function), not tampering with the game. Did not know that this was looked down upon.

Oh the irony.... Hammy, STFU. Mineral walking is NOT out....which you would probably know if you The RTS after SC2 was Wc3 fyi (which had backspace etc...).
And I've never had any trouble moving workers out of an expansion with the updated AI. It's definitely not necessary to click on a mineral field. Fkeys are needed for OTHER reasons than just getting workers out of a mineral field. Sure they'll stack slightly better (so more vulnerable to any form of aoe), but they can't go through other units which means they'll still be blocked by melee units => not mineral walking. I'll join you in your rudeness and ask you to STFU (just for the heck) or provide a more productive comment than your last one.

Ok, here is my more productive comment:
You're wrong.
Mineral walking is still in the game, it still allows drones to move through ANY other unit.
I JUST fired up SC2, just on the off chance you weren't talking out your ass and it had been patched or something. Nope, they still go through anything.
