But Husky is terrific at "color" commentary--jokes, amping up the excitement of whats happening on the screen, and basically just injecting a sense of fun and personality into the game.
In most pro sports, you have two commentators--an "analyst/play by play guy", who tells you whats happening and why and provides deeper insight, and the "color" guy who cracks jokes and uses catch phrases and basically tries to make it as fun as possible.
In a weird way, I feel like Day9 and Husky together could fill these rolls brilliantly.
I think this is spot on. Husky is perfect for the enthusiastic play-by-play commentator role, and when real SC knowledge and analysis is needed, Day9 steps in perfectly.

I love day[9]'s netcast, imo the best sc2 show around. Keep it up!

I just get angry from watching Husky commentates. He misses so much D; HD is worse though.

It seems that HD is popular because of his tired voice and husky because of his energy
Neither excels at game knowledge. They commentate strategy game without knowing strategy nor the players. And no - you don't need to be day9 to have knowledge, you just have to be good at game.

JP and Day9 + Chill and InControl
Those are the greatest combos ever.
|
Day9 + Chill/ Incontrol woukd be awesome, the latter ones trolling and day9 trying to actually analyze :D

I personally find Husky's voice annoying in comparison to HD's. To each their own, lol
Day9 is by far my current favorite, but I haven't listened to many
I think I'll go check out Chill and InControl right now, if they're on youtube
...and I'm not finding them

Honestly I really found apollo annoying. I would have liked much better having either just day9 commentating alone like the first matches of the KOTB or either along with someone else. The first days especially it was freaking terrible, after a while it got better but I still found apollo really useless. Just repeating what day9 had already said/talking about meaningless stuff. My favourite commentators are day9/husky and hd anyways. Day9 for analysis before anyone else tho
|
I thought apollo was very good. And I don't agree he just repeated what day9 said - I think he added a lot of stuff.
They made a good team imo
|
Day9 + Tasteless would be ultimate!
|
Day[9] + empty chair > Day[9] + Apollo.
>_>.

dunno why so much hating on apollo, I think he did a really good job and more often than not we found day9 searching around the map to find something that apollo had noticed and he hadn't (not to hate on day9 because I think that he did an incredible job casting)
|
Any word on there being a daily tonight or is D9 still abroad?
|
Apollo/Day9 did a fantastic job. IMO, They make a great team, I will never complain if they announced them co-casting again for any tournament. For every good caster there's a dozen horrible ones who would make me watch the games with the audio off.

I think my favorite Day[9] quote for the IEM was "It is Idra's birthday today and he turned 12" (I probably botched the exact wording but you get the meaning)

After the sc2 awards ceremony, day9 and apollo were wrapping things up with Carmac. Carmac asked day9 if he'd be doing his dailies next week (since he was so hoarse), and day said he has a 12h flight back to the states, where he didn't want to talk to anyone. It sounded like day was going to do one before the mlg's. Here's hoping!

Day9's speedy commentating and analysis combined with InControl's brilliant sarcasm would be the most epic SC2 commentating duo ever. Please Day9, read this, recruit him, own the world.

I watch Day9 when I want to learn, Husky when I want to laugh, and HD when I feel like facepalming.
