Now i dont have starcraft 2 with me at the moment but i have seen a video of husky showing that if u put damaged mech on the medivac with auto repair on the SCVs and u load them all it will start repairing.
Well my idea with these 3 units: + Show Spoiler +
is that since the hercule has a TON of space to be used well what if u set a bunch of auto repairing SCVs and Thors and just drop micro? Would it be effective?
I want to try this and cant wait to when i have starcraft 2 back.
Has anyone out there exploited this yet? I havent found a thread about this yet so i wanted to see what the community would think of it.

Hmm seems plausible to me. Until your Herc gets shot down D:

BTW guys im sorry if its been posted i just havent found it if it hasnt and it has been bothering me to know ever since i saw the video

1 thor fits in 1 medivac. SCVs cant fit

Hercule is a Single player unit with more than 4 slots giving more space not a medivac

Where exactly in the campaign would microing the shit out of one thor be of any use? That kind of repair is super expensive too (much more than repair would normally cost per scv/sec).
PS: The Odin mission is before you can have hercules afaik and you might not even be able to pick it up (I think it's not under your control). And even if it worked you could just repair him as good from the ground.

No because the surround on the thor wouldnt allow other scvs to repair it as well

I have done this sooo many times. It really works as long as you have immortality protocall and it is helpful to bring along a medivac. It alctually works well in all non-defending missions. It really works really well but I didn't find it that much fun so I started mass Sceptres with all ups including Specialist. Just not that fun imo, but effective.

I think you would be better off just dropping the SCV's with the Thor

Oh don't worry about that, the scv repair fast enough and they don't risk dying, its well worth it

Hercules Dropships are utterly overpowered... You do realize you could have a FULL M&M force in there, like 32 marines crammed in there and have it purposefully suicide so it could autodrop ALL of it's contents simultaneously?
Not to mention it's got the armor/health of a friggin' ultralisk... Could you imagine it loading up an army of units and ferrying it away from a battle? Ling/bling/muta would be terrible... even if the mutas kill it, instantly the mutas are shot to peices by two dozen marines conveniently clumped right beneath them!

just now noticed that thors are big scv's with cannons instead of drills..
|
I have used the three units together and have to say that at no point did I need drop micro. It was much faster for me to load two Hercules ships with 6 thors and 16 (1 thor = 8 scvs right?) scvs. Even without the AoE upgrade for the thor some timed missions are a piece of cake with these 3 units, without drop micro involved

can not unsee!!
id like to try this, since hercules and predator arent really used anyways.

The Mobius Factor just begs for you to drop infinite marines on Datacores.
...alright, aside from that I guess not.
|
You know other than the mobius factor I found myself forcing myself to TRY to use Hercules. It's pretty difficult to justify buying one when the only other mission it provides a big help on is Maw of the Void and really, one medivac gets the job done slower and a hell of a lot cheaper.
But I have a LOT more trouble justifying building a single predator, ever. If there were a lot more TvZ missions I would totally dig it but when you have stimmed marines.. well it's hard to justify ever needing anything else.

Didn't they fix the repair in the medivac thing for multiplayer?

A giant scv drilling everything to death would be awesome!
