Thanks for this! I actually managed to reach the 16th wave in Night 2 Die mode, but the Nydus Worm on the 15th wave spawned at the top of a ramp which I had blocked with a PF, so there was no way I could reach it.
Unfortunately the achievement isn't rewarded until you kill the Nydus Worm.

Mmm, thanks for this. Maybe now I can get the achievements

No problem.

Thanks for the replays. Should be as easy as pie now I was holding off on doing it because I didn't want to waste ladder time trying to figure out the best strategy to do this. You've just saved me a lot of time.

What I wanna know is how to beat night 20 on a laggy computer
Actually it's simple: CONSERVE GAS Died night 20 due to running out of gas to repair fortresses lol.
Just have 1 fortress per entrance, replace bunkers with turrets, and have a mobile MM force for nydus worms. Full upgrades of course as well
Edit: a few bunkers around for anti hunters. And while it's tempting to kill off scvs when maxed, you NEED them for repairs Also, stack one side with your elites (in bunkers, hold position mech) so you have 1 less side to worry about most of the time.
Research order: Bunker Tank
Rest is whatevers, but a good one is: Medic Goliath Firebat Reaper ...

to survive 15 nights, can you do like in the campaig, you kill nearly all the building except a few so there are less units spawning and it's easier ?

Building don't show up / It's a smaller map / They're invulnerable.

Get a friend to be your partner.

I finally got a smart person as a partner - and did expert ones. Are night mode ones supposed to be more difficult or are they just different pace-wise?

Its impossible to get someone actally good enough for brutal achievements

Nice vids btw, I'll probably be relying on them sometime.

You can do them alone if you are ready to control both sides at the same time.

Beat all of them.
Best thing to do is get medic/tank/helion/dual reactor/bunker upgrade in that order. Early tank helps SOOO much especially for the night to die achievement.
I went with two bunkers inbetween cliff and 1 bunker on each cliff for the front. With mass marine/medic and some helions. Once you get tank upgrade, just keep pumping tanks with w/e gas you get. Around the 3rd wave, make two plantery fortresses behind the side barrier and just keep scvs there for repairing and your hero tanks. To keep the annoying jumping dudes and spotters away from mineral line, you can make a bunker with two turrets behind mineral line and you wont ever have to worry about them later on. The key is to upgrade all your e-bay and armory stuff as fast as possible. Have your partner do the same and you will easily beat the achievement. We got to level 20 with over 4k/2k each still in the bank and units maxed out. We just quit cuz it was too easy.
Personally, best opener: 1) all scvs to mineral line 2) wep upgrade 3) keep 1 scv building at all times 4) make bunker on far cliff (this is important because you want the further one to be loaded with marines before the first night fall due to the further walking distance) 5) keep pumping 1 marine at a time and rally into bunker 6) make bunker on close cliff 7) once all three bunkers are filled, you can put scvs on gas and make another rax or go with a reactor addon 8) by end game.. you only need 2 rax and 1 factory. Before the dual reactor upgrade, 2 reactor/1 tech lab seems to be the best. Switch around buildings according to what you need.
The bunker on close cliff should finish right before the first nightfall Just make sure the marines being rallied into this bunker don't get sniped by the jumping dude.
I think what kills people is that they make/put wayyyyyyy to many scvs on mineral line... which means they wont have enough units to attack.
- Whenever theres a baneling make sure you target all your bunkers to attack it first.. - For spotters just stim marines snipe and pull back - For the infestors, you should have tanks by them and they won't be a problem. - When the warning of a huge wave comes, make sure you have enough scvs repairing and have helions in the front line. - Dont forget to upgrade building armor early.. it makes a huge difference.

Well after having no friends willing to do this and a handful of bad partners later I decided to start soloing these. I actually had alot of succes on Hard difficultly and in Left 2 die.
I used the alot of the ideas from the video left 2 die and I got to say Planetary Fortress wall ins is definely the way to go. You can jam two of them at all four entrances around your base and just keep 2-3 scvs behind them. Have a small group of tanks behind your PFs and a squad of MnM to run around and snipe nydus worms. You really have to limit your scv numbers because your limited to only 200 supply, just have enough to maintain repair costs and be able to replace lost units/more PFs.
It takes a few trys to get the hang of macroing and microing both bases while holding off the harassment of the AI but you get the hang of it.
The real problem was with Brutal diffcultly, I have no idea how you can hold them off and still have enough to push out and kill there crap. I only ever got to night 3 before being totally overan. Plus I think being limited to 200 supply makes it impossible to kill them before night 5, you just seem to not have enough stuff alive to clear there bases out fast enough.
So I was wondering , anyone else messed around with solos?
Edit: Spelling

Hm I did brutal before 5th night with Espelz who PM'ed me through this thread, it's not really that hard once you have a good strategy, you BOTH just really need to have an impenetrable defence and do your equal share of killing structures at day. We got it at the 2nd try, had a really nice run, totally dominated with mass M&M stim+upgrades+goliath/tank and successfully defended all 4 sides.
As for the Night 2 Die achievement, we had a good run but my computer crashed, he went on to wave 16 or so, I then decided to try solo it, 2nd try I lasted till 53 mins, wave 18 xD
Only 500 left on mineral patch and 2k gas banked, 12503 Kills but still got overwhelmed like crazy
|
Plz.... oh god ive gone to round 14 with random partners 3 times now... ive wasted over 120 minutes on this crappy achievement...
can someone competent plz plz pm me and we can do this on our first try?
plz....
|
Where is this located now? I remember it used to be featured but that was awhile back. It sounds like they made some changes...
|
FYI the best way to start the game is to immediately fall back to your mineral line and make a planetary. Then you can slowly push out with fortress/bunker until tanks. Holding the entrances wastes masses of resources for little gain.

Me + friend died at 23th wave at Night2Die, who got further?

That's incredibly impressive. Got a replay at all? After the 15th I don't think it stops spawning abberations.

I'm sure they wouldn't be garbage if it wasn't impossible for you. I think Night 2 Die is fun.

in retrospect I regret that we completly forgot about the upgrades in the factory techlabs. they are so good and we just made them at the very very late game.

Just got the 15+ night achievement today. It's pretty easy once you get PF's / Tanks / Missile Turrets everywhere. The only way you die is if part of your perimeter gets taken out, as you can never rebuilds due to the constant stream of zerg flowing in. Building random PF's inside of your base to take up space and prevent nydus worms is also a good idea.
Still trying to get the "Complete before 5th night on Brutal" achievement. Feel like that one's a bit tougher.

Ya nobody seems to pick Brutal, despite me asking for it in the pre-game chat and picking it immediately. People always seem to want Hard.

How many scvs do you guys usually have on minerals?
|
Anyone had any luck trying to do "Here Comes the Hammer" by themselves? I would assume it's possible being that you get twice the income because you control all the units. Might be someone tasking in them multitasking area, but has anyone tried/succeeded at this?
Will post a replay if I can manage in the next few hours.
|
i tried, but it was too much multitasking for me
if you have excellent control, u have actually an advantage, because u dont need to make upgrades twice.
On April 29 2011 07:12 Archerofaiur wrote: How many scvs do you guys usually have on minerals? full saturation should be the goal, like always

Here Comes the Hammer alone = piece of cake, especially since you can do this on hard instead of brutal.
Upgradeadvantage alone? Yeah. But you only get units from Bio-Research once and you're limited to 200 food. Stank portrait, easy. L2D before 5th night = don't even think of trying it alone without being in 1v1 ML with at least 150 apm. N2D hold out 15 nights --> barely possible alone, though not advised at all.
PS: The other (large) thread about these achievements has better information/strats for doing them.

Thats what I thought but im just wondering whether you guys are making extras to pull off onto repairing. Also when do you take second gas.
|
i think i took second gas shortly before we got tanks. for bio u won't need the second, but with tanks u cant have enough.
|
i need the brutal under 5 days and 15 on night 2 die mode id say im above average at it so message me or add me on SC2 if u wanna play
