Hey guys,
I was hoping that someone could clarify how to get all 29 missions. I HAVE read the other threads, but am still confused... can you please confirm whether this is the proper technique?
1. There is a secret level in the Media Blitz level if you destroy the science vessel.
2. There are 3 places where you get to make a choice during the story line. Each time, you will play 1 of 2 different missions depending on your choice. Each time you make the choice, play the newly unlocked mission (and finish all of the achievements for it)... then reload your game to before you made that choice and select the other choice.
If #2 is correct, can you please tell me the three levels I have to replay, or the 3 cinematics I have to rewatch?
Thanks a ton for your help!!!
|
i'm breaking my lurking spree to post this, but if you want to play both missions whenever you have to chose between one of the two (i.e. tosh/nova): 1. make your pick based on how you want the storyline to go 2. finish your mission 3. go to your bridge, click on the console thing in the background 4. the other choice will be an option to play
edit: also secret mission is unlocked by killing the civilian science facility in the south east of media blitz
|
Oh yeah? No reload required? Cool - thanks!
One other quick follow-up if you don't mind... I hear people talking about playing through without spending credits. Why would they do that? Is there an achievement associated with doing that?
|
someone would probably need to confirm this, but i don't think you get enough credits to purchase all the separate upgrades in 1 go of the campaign (infantry, vehicle, etc. ) which you do get an achievement for. So presumably, they just wait till the last missions and buy out each tree with reload/save and get achievement.
Personally, I only bought the orbital command and mech upgrades and i'll try it out when i'm less lazy.

complete the game and finished off the last 3 missions from the mission archive, which totals to 29 missions. I've done this but why isn't Kerri's portrait unlocked??

When you click on the achievement, are all of the missions highlighted?
|
When I reload my allinvictory save I am prompted with the mission archive screen. Currently I have done 25 of the missions, and would like to complete the other 4. Ive beaten the 3 regular ones from choosing who to side with, but it still says 25/26. Also, replaying the Blitz level from this mission archive doesnt seem to unlock the secret level. I tried loading a previous auto save from Media Blitz to unlock the secret level. I then beat the secret level but how do I get that save file to work with the save file where Ive beaten the campaign? Do i have to move the save game file to a different folder or something?
What am I doing wrong? Thanks
edit: seems like its not saving the missions I've gone back and done through my allinvictory save in the mission archive. Still says unplayed for Belly of the Beast, etc...

and be connected to battle.net
I had to redo a number of missions because I got disc'd.

I completed the game on hard and now want to go through it on brutal. If i click continue campaign and it takes me to that mission archive screen and I pick to do the missions on brutal instead of starting a new game, will it count to my Kerrigan portrait?

I'm pretty sure it does. If you want to check then just do the first mission and look on the achievement progress.

You can get credits by replaying missions and handing in research without advancing in the story. Not sure how it works because i seem to get a lot more payouts than researches that i find
|
You have to complete all mission objectives, even the secondary ones, in order for the mission to be considered "completed" for the achievement.
|
I have done almost all the missions, but I didn't complete the final zeratul mission before going to char. Will loading up a save be alright to count as completing it, or will it appear in the mission archives after I have completed the final mission?

You can always check which ones you need to do by going to your achievement box and seeing which one you are missing.

1. Yes
2. You don't need to reload. After you complete one of those "make a choice" missions, the alternate mission should just appear in your mission archives where you can do them from there. At least that's how it worked for me. So just look through your mission archives and find the ones you haven't done.

Why did i just read about this after i reloaded and did a few missions :p
Nice information in this thread though, thanks!

I'm having difficulty understanding how the save/load/new campaign/hard,brutal,etc. options are working with each other in this game.
I started the campaign on hard to play through the story, then go back and pick up the 3 choice missions. I also am making sure to complete every and all main and bonus objectives, but will go back later to get achievements I forgot.
But after I played about 8 levels, my cousin got on my computer and started a new campaign, also on hard, and played through the first 6 missions not getting all of the objectives in each levels.
Then I got back home and decided to start the campaign over on Brutal, still aiming to get every main and bonus objective, so I remade a new campaign... Now I am through the first 7 levels or so on Brutal.
So anyway... I'm not finding an easy way to distinguish between our campaigns or levels we have separately beaten on the same difficulty, and finding out which objectives were done for which level on whose campaign. I can tell which levels are my Brutal campaign, because in the load screen it also displays the difficulty.
I just want an easy way to distinguish between our campaigns because we are both going for all 29 missions. What is the missions archives thing some of you are talking about? Do you not just click "Load" to continue the previous campaign??
|
There is only one campaign per account at any given time. If you restart, the only way you can get back to the old campaign is to load a save file from that campaign.
If you're on the same account, as far as Blizzard is concerned, you're the same person. (and technically bannable for account sharing but thats always been retarded blizzard policy)
[edit]

You don't, but there's an infinite money bug/feature: when you max out a research tree (preferably both), the game, for some reason, saves how far over the 25/25 cap you are. You can then go and do any mission again (obviously, Liberation Day is the best for this, as you can do it in 2:15 on casual/normal), and after completing it, go to the lab, click the research console, and receive moneys.
You can go into the last third or so of the campaign with every single upgrade and every single merc hired, if you really want (I did, and barely did anything different. Not worth it except for the achievement).
|
How do you choose to play the secret mission if you've already beaten the game?
|
Hmm.. it still says 25/26 for me..
Completed the singelplayer and saw I didn't have the portraite for completing all 29 missions, I thought I had beaten them all since the credits showed up after the all in mission. Checked here and saw this post. So I went to the archives and first destroyed the building to unlock secret mission. Didn't get/find any secret mission it just said that I found the secret mission on the screen when destroying it. So I did the three others (choose side mission) and after completing them it still says 25/26, and no secret mission in sight.
If someone please could explain this to me, thanks. Have been connected to b.net all along.

You have to start a new campaign to get the secret mission. You have to get it the first time you play Media Blitz on a given playthrough.

Maginor that better not be true or ima be pissed. >

I just saw this helpful post
On July 30 2010 01:30 Wivyx wrote:The secret mission was a lot of fun. I recommend unlocking it. For those who can't figure out how to unlock it after finishing the campaign: Find the Media Blitz autosave file in your Starcraft 2 folder, save it under campaign, load the save, destroy the science facility in the south east corner of the map and complete the mission.
i will be trying it now
|
so, just tested, u can not just continue campaign, go back, and redo blitz for the secret mission.. ffs... guys ima try ^
Edit: is there a way i can find all my auto saves? my previous auto saves destroyed my Media Blitz auto saves, and i dont have any saves near it...
|
ya, if u didnt find it out yet, go to ur starcraft folder, go to ur unsaved files, and copy paste the most recent non completed storyline mission of Media Blitz, and u can do it from there, it adds onto ur current campaign, worked for me.
|
it worked ^^
|
I tried the replace save thing and it didn't seem to work...
I tried replacing the "LibertyCampaignSave" in the Saves folder and when I hit continue it took me back to a Belly of the Beast which I was half way through already.
I renamed Media Frenzy save to LibertyCampaignSave - am I missing something?
|
don't use the LibertyCampaignSave, go into your SC2 folder -> saves -> unsaved -> find media frenzy and then copy paste it into the Campaign saves folder, then load it in game
|
On August 02 2010 07:51 Superiorwolf wrote:don't use the LibertyCampaignSave, go into your SC2 folder -> saves -> unsaved -> find media frenzy and then copy paste it into the Campaign saves folder, then load it in game Either I'm too dumb, or it doesn't work. I guess it's the first...
|
I was able to redo Media Blitz and then the secret mission in 1 campaign run, I did it when I was at 21 levels done. So I guess that's not true.
But the entire saving/loading campaign stuff pisses me off. It's not clear at all how things work, I don't know whether to just improve everything to brutal or start again. I guess you could just try to improve each level for all the achievements too. And the credits stuff is ridiculous too, when I revisit the 3 not-chosen levels I can build BCs etc... and have all the lab upgrades too! Weird.
|
I am a litte bit lost...
I just beat the campaign including the bonus mission (got my 25 brutal achievement before starting the last mission).
I get the achievements, the Raynor portrait and was watching the credits. After the credits the single-player screen appears, telling me I have completed 25 missions. The "continue campaign" button is still there and brings me to my last savegame every time.
I don't know what to do to "finish" the campaign and get to the archives to play the three missing missions.
Maybe it's just too late and I need to get some sleep... but if someone could help me out here, I would appreciate it.

I finished the game and it said 24/26 So I went back and did the nova/ghost mission as I sided with tosh the first time through. Still said 24/26, is there something wrong here or am I misunderstanding how it works?

Did you get the achievement for finishing the mission? (it should work, did you do it on the appropriate difficulty level)?

The missions are done, just not saved into that campaign slot. That means you still get credit for 29/29 missions I think but you dont get to get the benefits of the other 3 missions for that campaign file.
|
EDIT: Didn't see the second page, question was answered ><
|
I'm really confused, on my mission archives screen it says 26/26 and has a completion time for all 29 missions on brutal, both sets of the choice missions and the secret one, but I still don't have the kerrigan achievement. It's the only achievment I even cared about getting too t.t
|
You probably did at least one mission while not connected to battle.net, or while the achievements were offline, or something like that. It should say on that Kerrigan Achievement which mission is still missing, simply redo that after making sure that you are connected.
|
Woot! I unlocked the portrait. I followed the method of copying a recent save from media frenzy and putting it in the campaign save file.
I already had everything else finished except for the secret mission. So that unlocked the secret mission (click on the bridge thing to see it). After I completed the secret mission, i got like 10 achievements, one being kerrigan ^^. Good luck fellas.
|
Right so, I copy and pasted my media blitz save into the Campaign Saves folder.
I then loaded it up, blew up the science facility and got the artifact which showed the "Secret Mission!" dialog.
I then finish the mission, which takes me back to the mission select screen you get after beating the game. No new mission.
Am I missing something? ARGH.

Thanks very much, didn't realize you could check on the achievement page to see what you still needed. Just needed to replay two missions and it was done.

Am I missing something? ARGH. You have to use your original Media Blitz save from the campaign, aka not the second time you tried in with the mission log. Try using Media Blitz (3) for this, it should be the save from your first time going through it and you should have already taken out 2 bases.
|
Unfortunately I've played a lot of games since finishing the campaign (but not knowing about the secret mission) so I think it got wiped out. Maybe other ppl aren't using their original Media Blitz, just b/c SC2 doesn't keep everything (unless you specify for it to be saved)

I think that might be exactly whats happening. I'm going to try this when I get home *watches clock*

7, all the autosaves are saved for me, but maybe if you've played a lot they got erased. You have to go to documents -> sc2 -> saves -> unsaved and all the autosaves should be there, and then if you see Media Blitz (3) that should work. In the SC2 client it only shows you like 20-30 or something and cuts off after that, which is why you need to move the Media Blitz (3) out of the client into the Campaign saves folder.
|
Wow, thanks superiorwolf! I didnt know the saved files were kept in my documents...i kept looking in either the sc2 root folder, or the replay folders in the actual game.
Everything worked out fine after i found it ^^
|
if i just beat the campaign again on brutal, i will unlock all portraits for normal/hard and brutal correct? and i keep all my current unlocks?
