What does getting gold mean? Like you get a "better" version of the achievement if you get more kills? I got "psionic assault" in beta by just making a bunch of zeal/sentry with a few HT vs terran and farming their SCVs and marines with psi storm... but there was only one version of the achievement.

Psyonic assault is a challange. You can complete it with 3 ranks. 75 kills 150 kills or 225. Waves of units assault your possition and you gotta defend with 10 sentries and high templars. Can't give mutch hints. Completed as gold on first try. Try tanking with 2 hallucinated archons or immortals. Then you can kill most waves with just sentries or 1 storm.

I got gold, but Im at work. i had a tough time until i started using a hallucinated archon for reapers and banshees

then when my templars ran out of energy towards the final mark, i morphed them into archons and suicided to kill the last 2 tanks. gg
It is what it is...

Feedback and hallucinations will do wonders. Use that mana.

Moved to SC2 Single Player.

Try to post threads in their correct places in the future.

EDIT: Actually, I just realized you have posted the exact same thread in the SC2 General forum.

All of your posts have been simple threads that haven't generated much discussion, and you seem to have ignored forum guidelines quite often. Please shape up your posting. I'm closing your other thread because I saw this one first.

The trick is to kill as many units as possible without storms. Forcefield the lower part of the ramp(2 fiels are enough to block) so that the enemy units don't gain vision and you can shoot them down with your sentries without them being able to shoot back. I used my first storms against the zealot and sentries, and hallucinated 2 archons to tank the reapers, they come after the zealots and sentries. Use storms to kill the reapers quickly. Also try to feedback the units that have energy, like the banshees. I morphed my first archon when the mutas were coming.

Here's another replay, 276 kills (ran out of energy around 250):

http://www.mediafire.com/?ry8s1sc8j9qk881

With a bit better efficiency on handling flying units and the ultralisk, going to 300+ should be possible

2 force fields at the bottom of the ramp stop units from getting up, then 1 storm and/or sentries shooting down is enough for most waves

Ghost/Banshee are obvious feedback targets

Hallucinations grab the attention of reapers, mutalisks, ultralisks, and ground forces that can see the high ground due to spotter vikings, at which point 1 storm and/or sentries can deal damage

Another tip is to pull back casters that have already spent some energy; this allows you to use the casters with the highest energy first, maximizing your energy generation

signed up mostly for this thread
ok i got up to 299... let me put it to you this way... last 5 guys is one wtf moment after annouther...

Battleship 296
Colossis 297
Ultralisk 298
Thor 299
Mothership 300

The BIGGEST trick i have ever used is the fact that you dont need to storm for almost anything you have a lot of Sentries so thats a lot of energy regen going... The first couple of them you want to put forcefields so they are stuck on the bottom level, but not to far your sentries can shoot them without being visible this will save you on Super important energy later

The hulicanation i mostly use agiesnt the worst of the worst like reapers... i make 2 Collosi just becaues they always blow through the first one and im NEVER stingy about energy costs when it comes to reapers

Reapers - Collosi
Mutas - Arcon (so it can 'shoot back')
Vikeings - Phenix
Ultralisk (if you do it right you can kill the first one before he breaks the rock if like none of your sentires die) - Arcon
Thor - Probes
I lie, cheat, and steal, ~end of first date

You can forcefield the cliff against reapers (forcefield the bottom) and you can forcefield to create a "trap" at the south entrance, where the enemy will pool and you can apply a well aimed storm to kill them in time for the next wave. Make sure to manually choose which unit is casting so that they can all regen energy, instead of just draining one after the other.

I think the best strategy, as mentionned above, is to avoid using the templars as much as you can. You should only use forcefields and, when necessary (eg. ennemy has air units or units that jump cliffs) hallucinations.
Pay attention to the fact that some hallucinations work better than other against given unit types
- You should use archons against low damage units
- You should use immortals against higher damage units (of course)
But also, save oftenly and try them both if you fail : some units will focus your sentries over archon decoys, but will focus immortals (eg. the Thor).

Actually, you should strat using them when units come from the northwest entrance. (Note that if the stones are destroyed, they are much more effective, given that you can trap ennemy units in the ramp and outrange them with storm).
You should use these against big packs your sentries will have a hard time destroying (eg. the immortal stalker pack)

This should to be enough for you to easily reach 295.

For the last five, you should
- Use 2/3 hallucinated archons, feedback and focus fire your sentries on the BC.
- Use immortals to attract the colossus' fire and damage it down with sentries and 1/2 storms (your templars should almost be maxed in mana if you managed the rest well, so it's time yo use it !)
- Use immortal(s) to attract the ultralisk's fire, and damage it down quickly (using storms again)
- Use immortals against the Thor, use feedback, keep 50 mana on ONE templar (1 feedback) and use ALL other storms on the Thor.
- Morph 4 templars into archons, feedback the mothership and FF it. USe decoys if you still have mana on your sentries.

The end is quite a wtf moment, just don't forget to use all these storms.

Good luck.

Here's a replay demonstrating how to achieve 300/300 : http://www.mediafire.com/?1df9zx8dkjp2sz3

heres what i did and i got it incredibly easily, i got to like 240 and gave up and killed all my guys

in the beginning: havae 3 sentries and 1 HT near the front, send all your others to kill the rocks
storm the lings, or just field them off andbring a few sentries back, but try to kill the rocks. then just go up the rocks, forcefield the ramp (you can do it permanently now) and storm everywave. 1 storm should wipe out the whole wave. trick is to leave like 1 unit space of ramp from the bottom and then forcefield, that way you can fire without being seen and they bunch up easier for storm.

you can keep storming if you keep all your HT alive, just use the one with close to 200 energy first and only use 1 per level which is incredibly easy if you force field at the right spot (do it a few times youll get the right one). for reapers, just shield the ramp and all parts of the cliffs (5 forcefields) and focus them. Banshees just feedback. Mutas are difficult but a good storm and guardian sheild should make it easy and voila, 225

Now that's thinking outside the box, I like it!
