Yea but you have to pump out lots of air support to take out the Overseers before the group of zerg attack the entrance. When you see them gathering via the observers just rush in, snipe the Overseers and retreat. You'll most likely lose a unit or two in the process but it's a small price to pay.

Just did it on Brutal following the advice people have given here. Mass colossi/immortal from 5 robotics and remake phoenixes when you lose. I made a few carriers and void rays along the way but colossi/immortal/phoenix was my main strategy. Just move to the side they come from, split up if they come from two. When I hit 200/200 I started blocking off the upper area with cannons. Moved up to the edge at 3150 kills, ended up at 3550.

Was pretty easy to do it on Brutal for me. Just get a ton of Colossus/Stalker/DT. On each choke, I built two gateways and then left a small opening where I"d place 2 DT. It'd majorly fuck up their AI, and I also supported with cannons once I hit 200/200. Just remember keep building Phoenixes vs the Hybrids to lift them up.

well u guys are baller.
i went cannons archon and colossi. manage to pull it off on brutal but took about 10 load/saves to do it.

i managed this on brutal this way: first thing is to start +1 atack upgrade for ground, then send 1 probe to make nexus on yellow minerals and transfer all workers currently on normal minerals to that expansion. Then very fast get about 15 dark templars and use them till first overseers come. till then u need: 3-4 colosus, non stop building imortals, and upgrades for ground units. I didnt make any aditional high templars, and used phoenixes on the hybrids that have ranged atacks. For air, ad a few extra phoenixes and get atack upgrades. the key is to control your phoenixes well, add more canons and dont stop spawning in zealots, stalkers if u have extra gas. The tier one units are for hit taking from ling/hydra/roach. the phoenixes are for air and lifting hybrids, imortals will deal with hybrids very well assuming u dont lose them to ling/hydra/roach, but they are normally slow enought to stay at the back. To cover the archive, if u feel like it, remmeber to add extra canons at all 3 entrances, but to keep themat the sides so u allow your units to hit efectivly.
Apart from that, the extra units that you will get from the maps triggerer will do their job almost automaticly, just make sure your voids/phoeninxes dont get in front or hydras will take them down 2 fast.
I managed this was about 2800 kills on brutal, also storm is good, but its not easy to keep up with the storms and controling your phoenixes without loosing them.
Dont forget imortals will soak up the daamge from hybrids really nicely, so dont panic if a few start to get close to your main force.
the moment when a lot of nydus spawn around the archive, use imortals only to take down the nyduses themselves, and the rest of the units to keep forces at bay.
Hope this helps, good luck :D

I don't know if it's been said yet but getting +2 attack for colossi as fast as possible is very important cuz it allows them to oneshot zerglings

They attacked me at the yellow minerals when I played, but I expanded there after a good 5-10 minutes :-/.

You will notice a common idea which is collosus immortals phoenix. thats all you need + tons of cannons. the void rays they give you are fine. use them to target all nydus worms asap.
How badass is it when Artanis comes out?

same here. when i played, they attacked the gold expo every time.

3400-ish kills on Brutal, spammed immortals (amazing damage soak with hefty damage to drop hybrids and ultras) and added few phoenix to the initial ones, used 2 gates to wall a bridge and bunch of cannons between/behind them, so enemies had one small place to hit the cannons, seemed like lings tried to rush it more often than the actual gates.
Double forge/core for faster upgrades, started to go about 50/50 in immortals and colossi soon from about 4 robotics and later started to pump voidrays from 2 stargates priorizing them over ground units, rebuilt the walls whenever I could.
Of course you have to pick up hybrids with phoenix (priority on range) and kill worms as fast as you can. After vault thing is secured its just a retreat to upper platform and making some semiwalls with gates/cannons so they lead zergs towards the mid from the ramps where your force is positioned. Rest is just using phoenixes and dropping a vortex if needed.

Pylon walls at the chokes - this helps immensely when multiple waves attack in succession from all sides, as it lets you concentrate your force to deal with one side while having a wall against the first waves of zerglings for the others.

How badass is it when Artanis comes out?
YO YO YO MY BROS ARTANIS BE IN DA HOUSE, GOT THA PIMPEST RIDE IN TOWN, BITCHES BE ALL MINE LET'S FRY SOME BUGS YO
pretty badass, yeah. I hope to god we see him come back in the campaign, such a dude.

Massed Colosuss off 3 robos and had like 7 warpgates warping in stalkers until I was 200/200...decided to stop defending the archive and defend the two ramps up my base...just blocked those with cannons and pylons and spent extra gas on templars.
Money went to templars and cannons after I hit 200/200 and started losing units, occasionally pulled out an additional colo if I lost one due to bad micromanagement.

This level is too easy. Far too easy.
Just build mass cannons at the three entrances and spam collosus + phoenix. I built the cannons after getting a decent sized army. Use the phoenix to lift up all of the hybrids and have your cannons and the other units they give you through the level to kill the lifted hybrids. The colossus will vapourize everything else on the ground. I also got full upgrades for air and ground units using 3 forges and 2 cores right from the start.
|
Didn't use the dt's. I just made 2 more gateways and a robo from the start. Then pumpen zealot/stalker with colossus and constantly upgrading ground and air. Also phoenixes as they falled. Then when the voidrays came I forgot about the gateway units except if I had excess minerals. So I built 2 more stargates and just pumped voidrays and phoenixes with colo and then only vr and phoenix. At the end I had a lot of voidrays, phoenixes and some carriers you get with 3 3 upgrades. They do pretty well against anything.
But I'm guessing this has already been said. Got even almost that +750 kills achievement, 39 kills short
|
i just got an extra thousand (3500) going starport units. voidray/colossus/cannons til selendis arrives then just mass carriers. phoenix to lift up all the hybrid units and snipe broodlords. i gave up building colossus after i hit a critical mass of carriers. 3/3/3 is a big help of course. + Show Spoiler +

Some people suggested walling off using DT's. I've found greater success walling off first with gateways, with cannons behind (when you start to float on minerals). It helps keep the Zerg on the bridge which makes your collossi that much more effective. Once I got VR's, I made sure 2 starports were producing them and cut back on collossi production. I did this with 3 robos, 2 starports.
Getting upgrades is also really efficient.
I pumped a few phoenixes as I lost them before I got voidrays, but I wouldnt say more than 5-10.

did this in 2 attempts on brutal. first was mad fail, 2nd i used the immortal/collo/phoenix build and steamrolled the comp and managed to save archives and rack up about 3400 kills. started with a 2nd forge, only used the single cyber they give u for air upgrades, only actually made 1 more robo. so basically i 3 robo/2 stargated and was able to easily get a 200/200 army, immortals just wreck the hybrids. you dont even need any more than 10 phoenix id say just cuz the voids and carriers that come automatically later make ur air plenty strong. also threw some cannons near the archives to pull the waves to the mid once all 3 sides were broken. after you save archives, go to the higher level, block ramp, cannon up, enjoy victory.
|
I got to 3200ish with mass phoenix/colossus, like everyone else. I didn't even know about gold minerals, where are they? :o
|
I went and got the super-achievement, on Brutal, just massing Carriers.
First stages, you build a few extra gateways, start maxing your Air Attack/Armor and Shields, get some dark templar and a few more colossi out. Then just 1a your way through the majority of the waves, when your excess minerals builds up, drop lots of cannons on the second tier of the base. Once carriers get out, get extra starports and just start converting all your pop into carriers.
Hold the two paths up as long as you can, and then just try and keep everything nice and tight.
Graphics get all sorts of choppy even on my superior computer with that many zerg, and that many interceptors around, but it was still enough to chew through enough units and get me all the achievements.
