A few posters on Reddit seemed to think he's definitely worth the 50 mil on current market and is the best player in Primeira Liga. Hadn't heard of him before either though, so no clue on my part.

Lots of teams seemed to be after him, so it doesn't seem like a complete out of the blue transfer in that sense.

When Chelsea played vs him last season he wasn't their best player against us or a problem, however Klopp has seem him up and personal twice this season (in same group) so i assume he feels he has something to work with. He has high shoes to fill though as every "winger" scouse sign are turned into goal machines; Jota Salah and Mane the 3 so far!

I don't think Minamino is even that awful of a purchase for ~10 million euros. Definitely they were hoping more, but in reality most 10 million transfers are going to be rotation at best in a club like Liverpool. It was probably a gamble they'd be willing to take any day.

id like to believe that a 20 yr old elite footballer would have better sense to do something that could so easily ruin his career, but given his history with women before, seems like its fairly probable that this one is true too. what an absolute idiot.

Amazing player. definitly the best in our league this season. improved tremendously from last year, going from a winger that sometimes cut inside to shoot to a much more complete forward (even has a header scored this season). the guy is fast, works hard and looks for the net. hope he does well in liverpool.

he was one of the best players/scorers in last copa américa too. to give you another perspective, our CFO is getting bullied for selling him so low. the deal is for 45M€ now, and 15 extra on objectives, from which the media report that 10 are pretty easy to achieve. so 55M€ are most likely what we will get, when most people were expecting nothing less than 60M, specially while leaving now and not only at the end of the season.

agreed. he took a huge quality jump/confidence boost very late in the season and during copa américa. he wasnt always a starter last year but this year he arrived training camp in beast mode.

there is one thing tho. he had covid a couple of weeks ago. he got back and scored already IIRC BUT he didnt seem as fresh and dominant as the games before. let's hope covid didnt ruin his progression route or didnt completely kill his form.

Rich children getting everything they want, generate a huge problematic ego when they hear the word no, is my guess. Such a disgusting and sad end to his career, could have legit been one of the best.
