GM pushing EV truck with a “go green” “blah blah” attitude was interesting. I wonder who from Marketing suggested/approved it.

They have Weddle (added late starting safety) and Whitworth (starting LT) retiring for sure. Donald is talking about it, McVay is talking about it. OBJ likely not ready, if signed, for at least most of the year. Will woods be back and if so full speed? No picks and no cap space! Now there is always things they can do and there strat of trading picks for proven worked. It will be interesting to see if they can sustain it or if it crashes them in a year or two. The NFC looks very weak next season. Brady's retirement scuppers the Bucs. The Packers over-achieved and Rodgers is unhappy. The 49ers are likely to start Trey Lance and we don't know how good he will be. Maybe the Cowboys or Cardinals will win a play-off game next season. So many of the good, young quarterbacks are in the AFC, so even a weakened Rams team could be favourites for the NFC.

I could even execute these plays in the Super Tecmo Bowl video game because you could create your own plays. Super Fun Times! Welp, its 2022 and the #1 article on the ESPN site features a 5,000 word analysis along with this detailed diagram outlining all kinds of various strategic movements. https://i.imgur.com/uJJZdgr.jpg https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33231841/dallas-cowboys-paid-24-million-settle-cheerleaders-voyeurism-allegations SMH

I’m curious what peoples thoughts are on this? Apparently he didn’t bet on games he was playing. (Barring any official NFL rules) I think a line has to be drawn somewhere, though. What do you guys think?

The powers that be care more about this them just about anything, just look at pete rose. He could bet on anything else, what a dummy he was inline to makes 100s of millions on his career. Now hes trying to compete with AB for giving up the most earnings by stupid chocies. If he was betting on other games, then I don't see the problem. He can't influence the outcome any more than the refs. Also, Pete Rose was betting on his games. That's the difference unless Ridley did something similar. But still, with it becoming legal across the nation to a degree, I don't think he should be suspended. Maybe fined. Banning players from betting on games they aren't playing in/for teams they're not on makes no sense. I'm sure he'll appeal the suspension. Now, if it comes out that he was having family members place bets for him against his team, then yeah, that could be something else entirely.

You don't want to just avoid corruption and matchfixing, you want to avoid the appearance of anything sort of looking like corruption and matchfixing. Which is why the rule is the rule.

This pretty much. In order for sports gambling to work, the leagues have to avoid even the hint of impropriety. A blanket ban is clearer and easier to enforce.

Because that is what gambling is. We are literally on a forum where the scene was basically destroyed by matchfixing once. I don't even remember what Garret allegedly did, but if it is so bad why isn't he in prison like Henry Ruggs is going to be? Gambling is an area where sports leagues should have higher standards than society. As an example, I was a government contractor, and we were only allowed to bring in really cheap sandwiches and drinks to our meetings with the gov employees, the point being to avoid any implication of bribery.. Gambling is the ultimate double edged sword. Criminal cases are a lose-lose for sports leagues. Which is why both leagues and unions will be best served, eventually, with CBA rules requiring indictments and court filings as part of the process.
