if the Raptors offense moved any slower it'd be going backwards. Is Siakam playing all 48 tonight? LOL.

Is it just me or are there more and more injuries (to superstars) every year, so early in the season also?

I've got to say too, whats bets for players is to limit the season to 50ish games. More rest, and games become more meaningful.

BUT, whats best for teams and media and the corporate side of the NBA is more more more games. Less games would wreck havoc on live attendance, viewershop, merc sales, and all auxiliary economy.

So, who wins...? Tough question to answer hmmmnnn

Rondae Hollis Jefferson played defense last night like his life depended on it. It'll be interesting to see if that continues. Jefferson's real life isn't in danger.. but his NBA life is in some danger this year.

Decade by decade injuries are more numerous and more serious in the big 4 North American sports. I'm not sure if each and every year it always increases though.

A contributing factor is that players continue to get stronger each year. They push their bodies to do more and more powerful explosive moves than ever before in the history of the game. There is plenty of research out there indicating that connective tissue does not increase in strength as much as muscles when a person engages in an intense strength training regimen. Connective tissue ends up becoming the weak link.

Serious tendon and ligament injuries can easily end a players season. We are seeing more serious, long term tendon and ligament injuries than ever before despite the fact that the medical teams for the NBA//NHL//MLB continue to get better and better. So much is getting better and stronger... except the players' tendons and ligaments.

That's what I think is going on.

The Warriors and Raptors have been decimated by injuries. The Raptors play tonight without 4 of their top 8 guys. No Lowry, Ibaka, Anunoby, or Mccaw. Warriors are dropping like flies.

I suspect Norm Powell will also be out tonight. No injury report is submitted... but i think he is hurt.

I thought every team was going to defend the Clippers the way the Raptors and Rockets have. The Clippers are sacrificing some defense by putting Williams out there for full time minutes. Even then... the Clippers offense ain't that great. The arrival of Paul George couldn't come too soon.

during the Rockets//Clippers game tonight they were talking about this a lot. it is a hot topic.

Man the Twolves are fun to watch this year. Kat is getting into to it on the nightly and putting up top 5 numbers. Wiggins is playing like a top pick, perhaps silencing some of the haters, scoring and lately doing it efficiently, hell hes also getting the occasional other stat and looks passable at d.

Rondae Hollis Jefferson is 24. He has had the fear of God put in him. I have never seen him play anything like he is playing right now. So it is possible for players to change.

That said, Minnie has only played 4 teams above .500 and in those games they are 1-3. The 1 win occurred against Miami when Butler didn't play.

Minnesota looks somewhat better than last year, but I don't find their play style particularly exciting. I find Toronto's play style more entertaining. The Toronto Raptors are playing more like a hockey team than the Toronto Maple Leafs. The whole team is playing like Lowry.

Quebec, Cameroon, The Congo, Barcelona, London. I could send Masai Ujiri to the damn south pole and in amongst the penguins he'd find some undrafted basketball player who wass tearing up the Southern Argentina Elite league a year earlier... Ujiri would bring him in and turn him into a legit NBA-er.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough in my previous posts. So I'll clarify, I'm not talking about RHJ's #s. I'm talking about his effort and intensity.
On November 15 2019 01:49 JimmiC wrote:
It is a long season and the west is a murders row so who knows if they can sustain it.
But Wiggins and Hollis-Jefferson are not comparable.

They are the same age. Players of that age can change. Hollis-Jefferson is playing with far more effort and intensity than I've ever seen him play in the past. Kyle Lowry also had his wake up call around age 24.

Who knows if Hollis-Jefferson continues to play like this. I hope he does... but one never knows for certain. Lowry resurrected his career around age 24. He had a reputation as a whiney, problem child. Now the guy is a model citizen, team first player, and a consummate leader. Marriage and kids can do that to some guys.

Here is Hollis-Jefferson in action. I've never seen anything like this from him in the past.

Jack Armstrong should be commentating all 82 Raptors games. SportsNet needs to take some of that money they are saving from firing Don Cherry and they need to give it to Jack Armstrong.

Wiggins is turning into what everyone hoped he would be a lead player, high scoring wing who can do it at a good efficiency. People had hoped he would be a lock down defender as well given his athletic gifts, but that has not happened yet. However his on ball defense has been good and his off ball has not been as atrocious in years past.

Overall, he looks better than he ever did last year. its been a good 11 games against mostly lousy teams. I wouldn't read too much into it. Also, let's ease up on this good efficiency talk ... he is shooting 36% from 3 which is slightly below average. His play making continues its steady improvement.

As far as Wiggins defense goes. I have not watched enough of him this year to asses his defense.

Yep, his eFG% against mostly bad defenses over 11 games has been good. I'm not sure that means he has turned into a "high scoring wing who can do it at a good efficiency". We'll have to wait and see.

hard core Raptors fans are already over Derozan. The consensus is... his defense sucks. Raptors fans becoming as ruthless as Knicks fans. ouch. They want Derozan to come off the bench if he plays for the Raptors. Double Ouch.

The Kawhi paranoia has begun. LOL.

https://www.reddit.com/r/torontoraptors/comments/dwf5eh/kawhi_leonard_tendonitis_watch_2019/

"in last year's playoffs he shot 50% from 3 and 58% over all through 9 games with no limping. As his health deteriorated his shooting fell off substantially. In the final 15 games of the playoffs Kawhi shot 30% from 3 and 43% over all.

In the first 5 games this year Kawhi went 50.5% on 55/109 and 9/23 or 39% from 3. In the last 4 games he went 36% over all on 30/84 and 5/26 or 19% from 3.

things that make you go....hmmmm..."

it was easier for the Raptors to rest Kawhi because they started off the season 12-1. If the Clippers lose tonight they'll fall to 7-5.

I had to go back and read my posts based on your comments. But I did say lately in the in first one, and the furthered it with the 11 games and that in may not be sustainable and is in fact unlikely. So basically you are agreeing with me, while sounding like your arguing? Kind of pointless no?
