Benfica just signed him for 20M€ according to portuguese media. Which is a move very unusual for Benfica since we normally go for unexpensive south american players so we can sell them with a profit.

He had one world class season 16/17 I think where everyone and their mother wanted to buy him but has since then played very average. Stable, calm, does his job, makes very little mistakes but also doesn't do anything flashy Edit: just checked market value. Goes from ~4 mio to 24~ mio in a year 16/17

Also Exeter have had a good Christmas and are now second in League 2. But I would be lying if I told you I did anymore than goggle that 10 seconds ago.

I'll also explain my unintended lack of posting highly opinionated posts by saying my school gave me 3 days of for Christmas +2 for the weekend so I did the obvious thing and flew to Osaka for the week. Osaka was great and is highly recommended if you haven't been there. In my absence there has been an incredible amount of football and a lot of talking points that I shall not bother taking the time to talk about. But as a whole the Premier League has changed very little and Liverpool are still walking it. I hope there is more title fight action going on elsewhere but I haven't had the chance to check yet. Anyway have a good new year is the general theme. I toast to anyone who has a drink in their hand reading my posts and if you don't I'll wait for you to pick one up and then toast you anyway. Happy New year to Greg, glad you had fun xD

I think they gambled in not replacing Kompany and then Laporte got injured. That alone meant it was going to be tough to get near 100 points. Then you combine that with the fatigue, focus on UCL and lack of hunger and you've got a recipe for the current results.

If it is at the end of the season, that is bad, if the payout is received mid summer then that might just be a timming effect. But as mentioned, didnt read the thing.

I find it really hard to gauge which youngsters get to stay and so on. I don't think I can lock down more than 4 players on the starting 11 that are definitely #1 options after next summer. There was also some talk about Kepa leaving or not being Lampard's favourite. Any tasty rumors on that?

Spurs not looking great at Southampton. The teams at the bottom have played some great football this season. That's why Liverpool still been unbeaten is even more incredible.
