You could always argue that Perez should have left more space in the name of self preservation, but it didn't look to me like he had any fault here. Edit: Actually I'm a a bit less sure. The track veers left, and the glare from the sun makes it difficult to tell. Sainz is definitely straying left from the white line, but Perez also seemingly bumps right at the last moment. Probably a completely unnecessary racing incident

Checking both onboards and the overhead camera, it's clear Perez is following the white line exactly, while Sainz just starts slowly drifting over. Probably a completely unnecessary racing incident Definitely feels like a completely avoidable racing incident to me. It's not like the gap closed particularly quickly, maybe 1-1.5' per second, just a complete lack of attention on both of them. I've had people drift/cut into my lane more aggressively than that while driving and I haven't crashed yet. Ultimately, that cost RB a whole lot more than it cost Ferrari. Max lost 2 points from fastest lap against Lando, and they're already running a tight ship on costs because of how much damage Checo has done this year. Also, Piastri is at a point total now where if Lando/Max come together and he wins a race, it gets very, very spicy for Mclaren.

The stewards' decision on the Sainz/Checo dustup was informative, imo. Sainz was drifting left because that was the racing line into the next corner. They stated explicitly that he had a right to do this because he was fully ahead, although they did add that it was a move towards a car he couldn't see well. Checo on the other hand had no claim to the space, had plenty of room to move, had better vision of the other car, and still failed to avoid a bingle my grandma probably could have managed. Imo it's a 70/30 checo at least. If his car had survived he might have been pinged, but since they both binned it, it's just kind of embarrassing for everyone.

He's still in contention but he needs to beat his season winrate by like.... 10x or something going forward lol. I don't think it's a serious proposition. Both cars felt like they were trying to fight for Leclerc's slipstream and Sainz had the right to the space because he was ahead. Checo had a ton of time to slide left, which he didn't. It's mostly on Perez but ultimately a racing incident that should've easily been avoided.

Absolutely ridiculous. Would love for Max to go into the next interview and just start cussing out his penalty

The radios, absolutely. Having these on the broadcast is a privilege and not a right. We're eavesdropping on their workplace, it's the TV director's job to sanitise it, not the driver's job to media-manage at 300 kph. Interviews, though, I think it's a bit more reasonable. Most sports have some kind of code-of-conduct for athletes talking to the media at official events. Obviously it's a high-energy situation and you need to give some leeway if you want them to say anything worthwhile at all, but they are acting as a public representative of the sport. I don't think it's crazy to ask them not to go full nuclear. Max seems like he's absolutely gone to war, though. He's clearly willing to die on this hill and I'm here for it.

Drivers are allowed to help drivers they fancy, and teams are allowed to help other teams. This is pretty common, and often done if they're running the same engine for instance. Haas and Ferrari have been helping each other for ages. What you're not allowed to do is conspire/plan to help another team, especially not for monetary gains. Ricciardo going for the fastest lap for what is in all likelihood his last race, isn't going to fall under any kind of collaboration. Congrats to Lando for finally actually sticking T1. And goodbye to Daniel. He never recovered after his stints at McLaren, but he was always a boom to the circus in terms of entertainment
