aah Atletico guy So Bayern have officially joined the crazy part of the transfer market now.
Btw does anyone else believe all that crazy sum spending of the big clubs will actually profit the mid to higher table clubs (the smart ones, not ones like Everton). They will profit from huge transfer sums they then can spend on their clubs while they still buy decent cheaply offered guys from the smaller teams where no big club is interested till they are matured by them.

70% of the crazy millions will probably go from rich club to rich club. 30% will be divided among smaller clubs and will most certainly help them

No VAR in euro qualifiers?
Switzerland just got a goal off a pretty obvious handball in the penalty area.

We lack so bad a replacement of Pique that we are playing Iñigo Mertinez. well he hasn't been capped by the france senior team so it's not too late right? do europeans care that a player switches nationality just because he doesnt get game time in his current home team? i feel there should be a lot more sentiment when choosing which country to play for. i personally couldnt picture myself playing for australia even if i had the chance because my heart lies with korea When they change nationality, because they don't find a spot in their "original" national team, there is usually barely anyone caring about it. But when they change nationality (or decide for one of their multiple nationality) to play for a "better" national team... yeah, there is quite some shit storm. So when a Podolski or an Özil decided to play for Germany, there was a decent amount of complaining from the Polish/Turkish side. While usually nobody gives a damn, when players who were eligible to play for Germany decide to play for whatever else because they don't see a chance in the German squad. An interesting example would be probably the newest super star of Barcelona, Kevin Prince Boateng, who unlike his brother decided to play for Cameroon, because he saw no future in the German NT. In winter sports there is also a quite well known guy in Biathlon, who suddenly took the Belgian citizenship because he had a grandma over there. And nobody was really bitter at him. Most of those cases also pretty clearly show: It is usually not even that easy to assign players to one nationality. So the borders become blurry. One might add, that the acceptance of pure sports mercenaries in Germany isn't the highest though: E.g. in figure skating, where the top pair of Germany is a Ukrainian and a French, you will hear very mixed responses of "how German" people feel that pair is. But unlike the cases of an Özil or Podolski or whoever, this is mostly as people really see no connection to Germany whatsoever with this pair. There are some other sports, where we have most sports mercenaries too, but they barely make it into the spot light. Nah, where did this come from? It was our coach dumb enough that didn't want Podolski to play in national team. He was declared that he could play for Poland but got refused, so then he started playing for Germany. So that's a whole different story.

Oh with that 3-3 finish it didn't feel so bad at all. Sweden was better all around anyway.

If there's one team that should be disappointed, it's Bosnia. Going from 2-0 to 2-2 vs Greece and Pjanic is going to miss games due to red card. That could very well be the difference between them getting through.

Holy rollercoaster of a game. I enjoyed it.

It is official. Lucas Hernandez to Bayern.
7 yeas ago Bayern paid the buyout clause of Javi Martinez against the will of Athletic Bilbao for 40€ (It was a lot back then for a defender).
Today they paid the €80 buyout clause for another defender against the will of Atletico Madrid. Atleti really wanted to keep him, because Godin will leave in near future and Lucas was adapted to Simeone's system and he is only 23.
Oh, anyway. The market is crazy.

Not sure why Bayern throwing so much money at this guy, they could have got the two best CBs from Bundesliga and still have change left for that fee. Interesting. Don't worry, Bayern is probably going to raid the Bundesliga aswell :p
Already secured Pavard for 35, very strong rumours regarding Werner and, who knows, maybe Leverkusen is actually going to sell them a player.

Wow that be some stupidly good business from Bayern if they just get Werner to be fair. Pepe seems on the table option as Callum won't go anywhere from Chelsea.

i know the spanish teams have a requirement to put a release clause on every player, but is there a ELI5 as to why?

I'm not sure why exactly it is in the rulebook, but I don't think most of the release clauses were even considered that carefully until PSG bought Neymar and the whole market went crazy. Even 3 years ago, that 80 million would probably have been way too much for anyone to even consider.

Release clauses in Spain stem from Royal Decree 1006, which was passed in 1985 and gives footballers in Spain the same rights as all other employees.

OGS has been doing a great job. I still expected Pochettino to be the next manager but lets see what happens now. The lack of direction from the boardroom is still worrying
|
Kinda weird to announce it now, I'm all for it but just worried it might put on unnecessary pressure on Ole.
I think Pochetinno was always on the list but they were surprised with how well Ole was doing.
