He probs rushed it but that is what they paid money for, him to score them

Any thoughts on that? Definitely enjoyed seeing Liverpool to go through, but would've been happier with a bit more consistent reffing definitely. I guess there were messy decisions both ways, but that denied goal stands out nevertheless.

It appears to me that Liverpools balance has actually improved because its forced other players to take more responsibility and they have thrived. Before,in alot of the games in difficult situations the game would either go through Countinho and he would either make the game flow or get marked out of games and then Liverpool would look disjointed. I think the deal has worked out splendidly for them, although it could have just as easily gone the other way and their attack could have fallen apart, you can rarely tell these things for sure, but as people making this sort of decision for Liverpool all you can do is assess your best bets and then have faith I suppose. Liverpool had to let him go since he was itching to leave, but Barca really didnt need to push for him till the summer. But good on Liverpool for going the right way. It's pretty hard to see from the rep, but van Dijk's reaction definitely looks like there's something in there. I guess he needed either a full dramatic dive or stay focused on the game. But even without the touch he got he was going nowhere, and wouldve ended up doing the same thing.

They came to defend a lead, not win a game. The shape was passive, the pressing, the intensity none of it was there because they wanted to sit back and let Roma play and "something would work out." They didnt even imagine that Roma would be able to score 3 goals against them. They are doing this in the league aswell since they got a lead at the turn of the year there and in that case Messi keeps bailing them out but Messi wont win you games on his own against quality teams as consistently as he will in the league. Definitely not in the CL. With the way the players and squad is built I would much rather lose like City did then the way they did today. Atleast in that case 2 teams are playing football. Honestly the issue that I feel both Barcelona and Man City fell for is that they got caught between two mindsets. I feel you either go full Mourinho or you don't, either you play how you play all season or you go full bus. I feel both Man City and Barcelona got caught trying to be pragmatic when a full gung ho style would have suited them better. I just realized that is your exact argument haha. woops.

I know we should see the whole picture and realize how many times has Barcelona been down, but that's an impressive stat overall

Just disgusting. Suarez' offside at the 93rd is just... What happened to the best 9 in the world? And now, just watch Madrid win the 3rd CL and steal the show this year while you had a perfect Liga/Copa run (still amazing but who will remember that?). Watch Ronaldo get his 6th Ballon d'Or for playing 7 games in the season over a consistently amazing Messi (at least he tried tonight)... Barça at their peak would eat this Madrid alive in a 2-leg matchup, but yesterday's Barça would get 3-0'd by just about any team. Last year vs PSG and Juventus, I thought it was a physical issue, but after tonight I'm starting to think it's time to replace half the team. They won too much, they're too comfortable. If seeing Madrid win the CL twice in a row for the first time in the CL history isn't enough to motivate you, I doubt seeing them win it 3 times in a row will change anything. I don't want to blame Valverde too much. He should probably have subbed out Iniesta and tried to consolidate the midfield earlier, but his 'conservative' (for Barça's standards) tactics aren't really to blame. It should have been more than enough to defend a 4-1 against freaking Roma (score that wasn't even deserved to begin with). Also, he's had to deal with having no attack for the whole season except for Messi & Suarez, so we can't really say the team is playing worse because of him. With Coutinho, Dembélé, and potentially Griezmann, if he still plays like that next season, then it'll be his fault.
