[Sports Media] ESPN's Stuart Scott passes away

If you are like me and an American sports fan who grew up watching SportsCenter, you know why today is a sad day. Legendary anchor Stuart Scott passed away this morning from cancer. This cuts a little deeper for me personally because he also went to my high school - Reynolds HS in Winston-Salem, North Carolina - and the Class of 2004 and the 2004 Junior Marshals (including yours truly) were blessed with a message that he sent from the ESPN studios in Bristol, Connecticut where he cheered on the class and recited our alma mater - which gave me and others chills.

I know I can't be the only person on TL.net who grew up watching SportsCenter, so I'd like to open this up for folks to share their memories.

Always liked him. Real shame. RIP.

His best line was def "cooler than the other side of the pillow"

Stu Scott was a pretty good family friend. I went to school with his daughter and we were friends. He and my dad got along well since they worked together when the Final Four came around, so they were always talking ball at school events. Stu fought with a smile on his face the whole time. He would always be joking with us "Hey man, enough P90X will solve anything." He came to as many school events as he could, pulling redeye flights after big games that he had to be on site for, or would send texts from the studio. He would spend any spare minute he got waiting outside the theatre to practice his golf swings. Warming up for P90X, he said. He went beyond "fighting cancer with dignity." He fought with tenacity and ferocity.

Much appreciated. It's hard for me to say, but I think I had the most fun when he said "hater in the house" or "play-hated on" after an interception.
