She very well might of just ate a knee, but at least she would of had a shot. But I do take the point that she's unlikely to pick up any skills between now and her next fight if she's busy doing promotional crap. Either way she'll get her rematch and we'll see if Ronda changes her strategy or get beat down again. If she comes out focused on a takedown and gets it and dominates her on the ground you all can come back and recognize, if she get's beat down I'll eat my words. + Show Spoiler + *old habits die hard

Judo clinching is just weaker against elite level jabs than a low shot. It might even have been better for Ronda to work off Holly's sprawl if she failed the shot than to try to clinch. Still, we are all talking in retrospect. The only consensus is that nobody likes Tarvedyan and the rest of her entourage (except Gene, everyone loves Gene)

"its not about getting better.... its about maintenance", Conor Mcgregor 2015. Adding new elements to one's game just does not happen. Fighters leverage their strengths when they are at the top especially when they are undefeated. Undefeated fighters over age 26 rarely screw around with new tactics unless their opponent is badly hurt. Ronda has said she wants out by age 31 at the latest. It'll be interesting to see if she puts forth the GSP level work ethic required to keep improving. It is interesting to note the GSP didn't begin his journey to dramatic improvements until he lost and went to the Jackson-Wink camp.

Look at gsp, probably the best MMA wrestler of all time, had no wrestling background pre MMA. To say Rhonda could have a ok takedown game is completely fair considering she has now been at it a few years and she athletically superior to everyone she fights. I think it's clear that she didn't add it because she didn't need to. Time will tell if the motivation from the loss is enough to have her add it, even a bad one just to give Holm something else to think about. The other issue is sound stiking sets up the takedowns. It puts the person, up against the cage or in the correct distance to be taken down. If she doesn't clean that up she will still struggle. GSP had a relatively long history of BJJ, and some wrestling. But, if we're talking about majority of fighter's with excellent shots, and wrestling takedowns. 99% of them have already a pretty large history in wrestling. To be honest, I don't think Ronda needs a wrestling oriented takedown game. The biggest problem is she's not a good ring cutter, nor does she have good enough conservative striking prowess to force a striker of holm's level to the edge of the Octagon. Another massive problem with Ronda is her tendancy not to strike in clinch, if you watch a lot of the top judo fighters (or upper body takedown oriented fighters) like Dong Hyun Kim, what they excel at is grinding at the edge of the cage. Just clinching and grinding the living fuck out of you on the edge of the cage, then tossing you down when they've got you gassed. I think Ronda's got the toolset, I'm just not sure if Edmund is smart enough to develop a game plan where those tool sets are optimized in each fight.

Its probably intentional leaks to the media by certain parties to pressure certain other parties into doing a deal for UFC 197. it still might happen, but i would not say its a sure thing right now. Originally , the top price for tickets was $1500. If Ticketmaster puts this back online again in a day or two with lower ticket prices then that is your best evidence that Mystic Mc is not on the card. its pretty messed up... UFC 197 is less than 8 weeks away and other than Holm v. Tate ... nothing is settled.

For Mcgregor the difference between RDA and Edgar is negligable. Its RDA who will see a big difference in his pay. Mcgregor is playing RDA and Edgar against each other. Whoever takes less money ( so that McGregor gets more) will get the fight. It may or may not occur at UFC 197 because time is running short.

I'm hoping for the edgar fight, he has basically cleaned out the division and he's a action fighter I would love to see him get that shot. I think McGoat loses either fight so he is better to fight DosAnjos so he can just talk about size when he loses. For hype he should have just faught nate Diaz, he probably wins, it gets HUGE ratings and he still has either championship fight open to him. Don't get me wrong, I think some of the press stuff is pretty overwhelming for top fighters, but it's really annoying when these fighter never bother taking their image and their press obligations seriously. All of a sudden a big cash cow McGregor shows up, and then they're asking for more money off of McGregor's work? Like, how many of the top UFC fighter has actually maintain their image? How about outside the UFC? etc etc. Not a lot, that's for sure.
