I don't know why Dallas would want him that badly. Jameer Nelson isn't good, but he fits what they do. Rondo and Chandler would probably work well together, but teams are going to ignore him in a way they can't ignore Nelson/Harris. And they're not suddenly going to be good at defense by adding him.
Rondo's abysmal offense has really caught up to him, imo. As good a distributor and defender as he is, if he's not a legit threat on offense he loses so much value.

not that it captures much besides individual scoring, but rondo is even worse than rubio and is worse in the league at points per minute of possession.
