Some of them weren't all that precise but miles better than a lot of mens pks. No justice this evening. France would've deserved that.

Most I remember are either shot soft, with the clear attempt to fake out the goalkeeper, or a just completely hammered somewhere close to the middle. Celebrated as genius if scored, decried as miserable if not. A well placed medium strength penalty is unreachable for women's goalkeepers because of their sheer size, the only way a man will take an unsaveably penalty is by nailing it into the top corner. I do have the BVB Bayern pks here, so I will spot check

Btw, kicking over cornerposts as "celebration" like that should be a yellow imho... Sadly a lot of men also do it, and no one dares to punish it.

Looking forward to the US vs Germany game, should be good. Yea. The U.S. doesn't have the speed or scoring ability that France has. I think that Germany will control a lot more of the game than they did vs. France and it will be an incredibly physical game. Neither Germany or the U.S. are incredibly fast teams; both of these teams' primary strength is their physicality, and with that clashing on the pitch, the game will be an interesting, back-and-forth slugfest. I still don't think the U.S. have the scoring ability to beat Germany (they still couldn't convert much of anything against China), but you do only need to score one goal if you can hold a great defense.

Thankfully, Angerer is one of the competent goalkeepers in this tournament. I miss Nadine Kessler, she really brought stability to the German midfield, a stability that is lacking now that she is injured. Women's World Player of the year 2014 after all.

It's not hard to shoot a hard penalty like, within half a meter of the post in one of the lower corners. any professional football player should manage that like, 95+% of the time? but for guys, that's not a certain goal, it has to be even closer to the post than that, or the goalie has to go the other way, or it has to be ~1 meter above ground level. With those variables it becomes much more difficult. If a girl knows that if she just shoots hard in one corner and it's a goal, then there's no point in mixing it up.
