Each and every club and national league would have the power to take out their teams/club players out of this WC to protest against it. But no one has done, no one even threatened Fifa with it. I love how Rummenige is one of the one whining about it when it's known that he has tons of friends in Qatar lol.
This time Qatar bribed the others enough that everyone will be fine with the 2022 Qatar. Football is becoming more and more a joke. I don't think clubs do have this power. WestHham where fined for playing one of their players when he claimed to be too injurred to play in the African Cup of Nations

FIFA can fine all they want. If the big clubs were to boycott the WC FIFA would bow to their wishes. But all the big clubs are bribed as hell.
They all love Qatar.

Matic Ban reduced to 2 gamesHowever...Chelsea are pissed! The Chelsea Football Club Board is extremely disappointed and frustrated that the FA Regulatory Commission has today decided not to reduce Nemanja Matic’s suspension to the maximum extent permitted under FA rules.
Haha, this is far from over :D Chelsea going full crazy mode. Im guessing they wanted it reduced to 1. Oh well

Yeah no shit dude.
I was just curious if someone actually made that argument because it would be monumentally stupid.

I was just curious if someone actually made that argument because it would be monumentally stupid. Oh, ok. It doesn't really matter if any argument make sense or not, all that matter is 'how much money can FIFA make'. I can see how Russia won the bid for 2018, it has a well established football infrastructure and the investments the Russian government makes will help bring football in that country to a higher level. And of course FIFA can make a nice profit.
Qatar on the other hand... 86,250 seat stadium, another 70k seat stadium and another 10 40-50k seat stadiums. Really? The average attendance for the Qatar first league: 5,073 (mostly people payed to go watch/cheer for a team)
At least if the US won there would have been 12 world class stadiums with over 70,000 seats already built. Not to mention the US needs another football fever injection.

Not to mention the US needs another football fever injection. the problem with most of the fields in the USA is the grass. American football fields use astro turf and tend to have covered roofs where real grass can't grow. The tech to have turf on the same level as what FIFA wants is different to the specifications that American football wants.
Then again the tech might catch up in a decade or 2 when the USA might get the world cup.

Some "Mou magic" from the FA.

Maybe it was just me beeing monumentally stupid. I have it in my head that the climate was an argument against Australia but honestly i cant find any sources on that. Or maybe i mixed it up with the +10 hours to europe or the lack of black money.

It's because Wenger doesn't have a persecution complex and doesn't have to throw a fit every time he doesn't get his way. Arsenal didn't even appeal Giroud's suspension.
That said, it's still of course impossible to take the FA seriously. The reasoning for reducing Matic's punishment seems very arbitrary...

Giroud pushed his head into another player's head. You can't do that. He deserved a red card for it. The difference between Matic and Giroud is that Matic was reacting to a tackle that could have left him seriously injured whereas Giroud was reacting to a push in the back. Matic's reaction was far more understandable. And yeah, I think provocation has to be taken into account when dealing with player reactions. Then again, maybe if Arsenal had appealed they would also have been able to get Giroud's suspension reduced to 2 games. I don't know.
(Btw, I'm a West Brom fan and I think Chelsea get a lot of stick in the media who often portray them as villains. I am not convinced the referees are out for them though, but neither am I convinced that Mourinho holds special sway over the FA. But that was a truly terrible game by Martin Atkinson. The standard of refereeing has been awful all season, sadly.)

jesus clichy, why even go for that kind of challenge when youre on a yellow in such a big game?
Utter Stupidity. Probably just lost his team the chance at an equalizer.
