Yeah, something needs to be done about the TV money situation in Spain fast. We are not far off from Championship clubs being able to poach players from upper table La Liga teams.

Well Barca and Madrid have been stealing the best players from even the top PL teams for a long while now, shouldn't it start with better distribution of TV rights, doesn't Madrid and Barca basically take it all?

lol championship clubs arent going to get any players from any good la liga teams. the players simply wont go to a championship clubs regardless of how much money they have. im personally hoping all english clubs invest that money in youth academies etc, cause lets face it at this rate we will never see a crop of exceptional young english players that can match the class of 92. maybe england can get their own sporting fc or ajax, or the good teams manage to make an academy that can rival la masia. wouldnt that be nice. of course, a lot of this would depend on the quality and quantity of youth in the first place though..

The big problem in Spain is that Florentino Perez can't see farther than his nose. Right now the government must approve a law that will allow La Liga teams to sell their TV rights collectively - just like in the Premier league. For some reason the law is delayed. Barcelona's president already said that he is OK with the change... I guess the RM lobby is working just fine.

Just for comparison:
The bottom 12 clubs (ALL TOGETHER) from the Portuguese league get an astonishing 2M€ from TV rights!
The money that Hull will receive just for TV rights would pay Benfica's budget for 2 years.

The PL money will trickle down to some PT clubs via transfer fees.
If clubs from lower leagues want to be able to compete with this then there either needs to be a consolidation of national leagues or an expansion of continental leagues. I hope one of the two happens but doubt it.
Having said this, a concentration of talent in one league is more entertaining than among 6 different leagues. CL matches are more fun on average than league matches, Euroleague basketball matches are more fun than avg league matches.

It is very strange that the spanish government has delayed the bid of centralized tv rights so much. Espanyol president raged yesterday a lot about this delay and he is leading a possible strike already.
I think it is obvious that Perez lobby is influencing the politics with this issue.

If the Spanish League does not gather a comparable amount of money vs the Premier League, and Barcelona and Real Madrid TV revenue drops, doesn't La Liga risk falling in popularity, given that this popularity is today in great part due to the Barcelona vs Real Madrid rivalry?

Does this new TV deal mean that suddenly all the Premier League Clubs that looked a bit dodgy in terms of Financial Fair play are all suddenly fine? It's genuine revenue after all.
Does it also mean that Chelsea suddenly have no need to build a new stadium?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Subotic of all people.

Lmao Subotic. I guess it kind of works if he scores once for every goal that is his fault. Edit: Gonna be right up there for most goals of the season soon though
