I'm glad that RVP didn't win the Puskas award though. Henrik Larsson was sick of hearing about how "unique" it was.

I don't think it was the best goal of the year, but James Rodriguez deserved it way less than RVP did. That goal by James was pretty but nothing special.

Only goals. PD: Before Simeone, Atletico de Madrid vs R.Madrid stats from 2002 to 2013 (24 matches, 19 Madrid wins, 5 draws, 0 Atletico). With Simeone (10 matches, 3 Madrid wins, 2 draws, 5 Atletico wins). He won "la liga" common, that trophey that everyone in this forum was always blaming for only have two teams whose matches finished 6-0 easy at the Mou/Guardiola era. For me it is a more awesome feat that the Mou champions with Oporto. "one minute" is the only difference for winning it seems.

He even scored lot of goals in WC... Unfortunately the whole world is only Messi/Ronaldo, so sad ![]()

The bigger joke is the World XI with Luiz, Silva and Iniesta in it. Who ranks all those guys and picks them? Because it looks like their football knowledge is pretty minimal. Who else thinks that Ronaldo shouted for tea? David Luiz is a joke, I dont think Iniesta deserves to be in there either. I totally see Silva in there though, On January 13 2015 06:13 Mensol wrote: + Show Spoiler + Cristiano Ronaldo - 184 Manuel Neuer - 83 Robben - 68 Lionel Messi - 59 Philip Lahm - 32 Thomas Muller - 20 Toni Kroos - 16 Angel Di Maria - 15 James Rodriguez - 12 Karim Benzema - 12 Javier Mascherano - 11 Courtois - 10 Sergio Ramos - 10 Bastian Schweinsteiger - 9 Andres Iniesta - 9 Diego Costa - 8 Zlatan Ibrahimovic - 7 Neymar - 7 Hazard - 5 Gareth Bale - 5 Paul Pogba - 3 This is what you get when you calculate top 30 teams of FIFA ranking. These votes are from captains and coaches. Okay 12th or 13th place was little unrealistic but my point still stands on. Messi didnt deserve to be there yet alone 2nd place. He should be thankful to countries like GueteMala and Mauritania. Yes, they are just fans. None of them know football as good as Hiddink, Deschamps or other great managers. I pity your small word view and frankly the elitism here is just as bad as your propensity to perform verbal fellatio on your two favorite Portuguese males. Heres the thing you dont know need to be Hiddink or Deschamps to know Ronaldo was the best player this year. These are partly popularity votes and the difference is made of performance. Remember these are first place votes. Most footballing countries who do vote for Ronaldo will have an agenda driven second and third vote's they have to do it. Even if the Guatemala's of the world voted Ronaldo in first Messi will still get plenty of second and third place votes. It would also cannibilize everyone elses votes so the net result would be roughly the same. Messi record and performance wise, was without a doubt the second best player in the world. Goal keepers and defenders have an inherent disadvantage when they face quantifiable numbers that attackers produce and when produced on the level these 2 do its exceptionally difficult. You only need the opinions of experts when your value and contribution is hard to quantify which was the case when people like Zidane, Figo or even Cannavaro won the award. Seriously, do not be a dick about smaller countries, everyone has a right to a sport.. Everyone. Also James's goal was good but RVP's was better. Personally my favourite was Cahills. But w/e I think they factored in signifcance aswell. On January 13 2015 07:43 Micro_Jackson wrote: You wanna know how hated you are as a leader of an organisation? Not that I'm a fan of this guy or anything and frankly I couldnt care less. But if you are going to use the middle east and its absurdly archaic laws to make a point then well I'm afraid you can start calling 99 percent of the companies with GMBH in the title scumy for doing business with them and making them money so they can keep doing it (Free port and all that jazz).and export it everywhere. Everyone loves Dubai, they help preserve the national interest of most of the developed world. Also its his brother in law (not that it matters)) they are what the west has made of them at the cost of sounding political

Agree. Jordan is probably the most civil of all Middle Eastern countries by a wide margin. I've been there twice and have lots of friends (mostly female) there who live pretty liberal lives. Having said that, it's not a fully liberal democracy, although one has to give it some slack as in the last few decades it has had to deal with: 1. massive refugee crises in Palestine (who make up most of Jordan's population today), Iraq and Syria; 2. terrorism from PLO, Al Qaeda, ISIS within their territory and next door; 3. non-stop conflicts next door in Palestine, Syria and Iraq.

Its a popularity contest, defenders and goalkeepers aren't flashy enough and don't have dedicated groups of circlejerkers spamming 'defender' statistics.

There were plenty of beautiful team goals in the last two seasons and they are far more impressive that most of the goals that get top 10.

Althought he didnt score too much goals, he was the best "playmaker" back then and Barcelona was playing like angels with him, a fast passing agressive style (not like next years barça slow pass until boring) and he won both Champions and Worlcup. But well, opinions are opinions, and anyway Messi and CR7 will win the trophy the next 5 years xD

Sneijder should have been instead of Iniesta in the top3 in my opinion (Althought Iniesta was a magician then, now he sucks)
