Are you really comparing someone like Tevez considering where did he came from and Alonso ?
:/ for Tevez, football its kinda like a way to get out of all the problems he could get if he stayed in "Fuerte Apache"
alonsos interview is most likely memorized, like pep's first interviews were. But the impact hes making on bayern munich is more then impressive, and that he is even trying to learn english with 33 years at his new club showes his passion
As far I know, all bayern and ex-bayern players loves the city munich extremely. Pep already likes the city munich. Jens Lehman lives and lived in munich during his stuttgart GK career!
I think it is rather the big love to the city than the club or trainer.
Edit: Wolfsburg is the perfect opposite, city is the biggest garbage. A nightmare for women.

I dont buy that "poor background" thing.
why is that? i dont get the reasoning other than it would "please" the fans or whatever. i think if someone wants to learn another language, it should be for themselves and i guess to communicate better with teammates if they all happen to speak english too, but not cause oh some fans want to hear him speak english.

I know it's not the holiday thread but I just want to second that. Wolfsburg is a godsend for the region and it's people but if you can, avoid that city : D
Has anybody here seen a few matches of Dortmund AND Salzburg this year? Read a few things about Kampl but I don't trust anybody outside this thread. What do you think is his role going to be? From the youtube highlights the one thing I noticed was that he seems to like to play those passes that Ciro is always waiting for. Maybe they can be best friends.

Those fans are why he's earnin millions for kicking a ball in the net. It's simply polite tot learn the language.

that is correct but i think it is unfair to compare the language skills of Alonso and Teves with these 2 videos. Alonso does that in a studio with prepared questions, prepared answers and unlimited trys, Teves has to do it on the field in a loud stadium after a game.

Ah yes because we all know that foreign football players should just do tricks effectively for the local fans, because apparently they have some duty to them outside what their contracts asks... Stop demanding more from foreign players just because they are foreign it is racist and simply unfair, they owe the fans jackshit outside their performance in matches and training.

What a needless hostile comment against RvB. He simply says that it is polite to learn the language and somehow he's labeled as a racist. What a joke. Besides I cannot believe people are defending Tevez, guy is known as a jerk to people who do understand him and he actually refused to even do what was his contract asked of him. Guy is an asshole.

Yeah i agree with this and RvB post. It was worst with Pochettino, took him like 2 years as a manager to learn English ffs. Guy is a manager and couldn't do a single press conference in English until he joined Tottenham. Then you have likes of Pep who learnt German before he even took Bayern job etc lol Oh well matter of opinion i guess

Between te straw man and ad hominem I don't really see much of an argument to respond to.
if speaking a certain language was part of their contract, then sure i can see why they should learn the language. so what's more important to a fan, his play or his interviews? i mean what's next, he should donate % of his salary cause its polite to give back to the fans?

I hate it. I don't mind that they play on boxing day, or new year's day, but why do they have to play on the weekend, literally two days later? Every team has to play four games in nine or ten days. No team has the depth for that, and every team already has multiple injuries. Players not having proper time to recover between matches is only going to compound that fact.
They make the lower league teams do it too. How the heck are they supposed to pull that off, if even the PL teams don't have the depth for this?

Great save by Courtois.
Matic is so fucking good.
You could say that signing him was very...pragmatic.

Well I live next to Salzburg and watched a few of their Euro League matches (not austrian Bundesliga though because its rather boring). Kampl is definitly a good player but I dont know if Dortmund really needs another young talent. It could work though. I met him once at a restaurant actually. He is definitly going to miss the pork roast which they serve there because I doubt you can find anything nearly as good in Dortmund :D .

Yeah i guess you can argue that. Great fun to watch.
Also most lower league teams do this every week kind of anyway. 2 games a week is the norm from Championship level downwards. Teams in my local league (Worcester City - Conference North) play 2 games a week and many times when catching up games they play Saturday > Monday > Saturday. They only train 2 days a week as well.
At premiership level they literally go in "to kick ball around" for training, work on tactics inside then do light gym work im sure that is it. But yes im still sure it puts alot of pressure on their bodies but provides great festive tv and entertainment for everyone.
Like Mourinho said in his interview yesterday. He respects every player who plays in England for the xmas period but said so do the fans as every game is sold out up and down the country to watch this.
