I think all of Southamptons business was sensible this transfer window. Tadic - great player for a great price, direct replacement for Lallana Pelle - worked with Koeman at Feyenoord so a known quality to the manager, direct replacement to Lambert Bertrand - loan deal with option to buy, no risk high reward, replacement for Shaw Alderweireld - loan deal with option to buy, no risk high reward, replacement for Lovren Gardos - depth for CB position at a reasonable fee, looked good in the games he's played Forster - upgrade at GK position on Boruc, slightly pricey I think but maybe necessary buy Long - useful addition to the team and a good foil for Pelle, overpriced however but not horribly so Mane - dangerous winger and also a useful addition to the team, fits in Koemans philosophy, was excellent at Salzburg All in all it's intelligent business that filled their major needs at striker, a creative attacker and in defense, plus added a bit of depth. I think they probably upgraded with Pelle, Tadic and Alderwiereld over Lambert, Lallana and Lovren and Bertrand isn't looking any worse then Shaw for Southampton either, all for a fraction of the price.

The Bayern travelling party would normally have had every reason to lie in on Wednesday morning, but less than 11 hours after a gala 7-1 victory away to AS Roma the men from Munich were back on duty. Smartly attired in their official club suits, a delegation of players, coaches and officials left the team hotel and made their way to the Vatican for the next highlight on their trip to the Eternal City, a private audience with Pope Francis. The head of the global Catholic Church was also clearly looking forward to the occasion. Shortly before the Munich party set off, the Vatican enquired whether the visitors were already en route. The Bayern bus was the first vehicle of the day admitted to the inner precincts of the Vatican. The group from Munich then awaited the audience in the Apostolic Palace, the Papal residence within the Vatican. On his arrival, Francis praised his guests’ performance at Stadio Olimpico. “You played a wonderful game yesterday,” the Holy Father told the delegation in Italian. The Pope, a passionate football fan, admitted to “surprise” at the margin of victory the previous evening. “Football is good and healthy, and a good role model for children as a team sport,” he said. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who headed the FC Bayern delegation together with his fellow directors and the club’s executive committee led by president Karl Hopfner, had previously expressed thanks for the invitation, also in Italian: “It is a great honour for us.” Rummenigge presented the Pope with a football signed by all the players, symbolically representing a friendly match to be played in the course of the next year. Out of the revenues from the match, FCB will place €1 million at the Pope’s disposal for charitable purposes. FCB captain Philipp Lahm and Manuel Neuer also presented Francis with a framed and signed original Bayern shirt bearing the number 1 and the name “Francis.” The Pope was personally present to see Rummenigge play in the 1986 World Cup Final in Mexico, he revealed. The members of the delegation then received a gift of their own, a small crucifix on a chain. “It was inspiring for us all,” Philipp Lahm told fcbayern.de after the 15-minute audience, “we’re delighted we had the chance to experience this.” David Alaba said he was “unbelievably impressed” and spoke of “one of the greatest experiences of my life”. Saying that though he seems to be doing all the other parts of management pretty well to. The Southampton team always looks motivated and hungry to perform and score goals. That kind of drive you would have thought would be the bare minimum a professional footballer should show for his team is lacking so often from so many teams performances. But Koeman seems to be able to motivate the players. So perhaps he would be good. Who knows? I think he’s pretty comfortable where he is. It also would be funny if Southampton prevent Tottenham getting into Europe this year. I wonder what Pochettino would make of that.

Bale won't be there apparently, so it's going to be Modric - Isco - Kroos + Ronaldo - Benzema - James... Scary on paper, but if Barcelona plays it well, this can quickly turn into a 0-5. And if it's last year's Barca that comes on the pitch, then 5-0 xD Would be surprising to not see at least 3 goals.

But yes there will be lots of goals and I see real conceding more than one. They are even thinner than Barca now in terms of dominating a midfield one Rakitic balances oout James, Isco and even a bit of Modric out.

It looks like they (Man Utd) are signing Victor Valdes too, though for now it looks like he'll just be training to regain fitness with them.
