I was watching the game live. Literally the entire Hamburg team surrounded the ref after that to try and get Neuer sent off. Btw this was in the 90th minute and near the halfway line lol

The reason the GK almost always gets a red card is that he usually denys a clear chance of scoring if he touches the ball outside the box with his hands. In this case he counts like every other player of you make a handball midfield, so a yellow card was the right decision. And a very smart play if it was intentional.

It's not exactly the same as any other handball, since if you shoot from that distance there is ussually a keeper present at the goal, in which case it's obviously not a clear opportunity. You can argue that it's still not an obvious goal scoring opportunity, which is subjective enough, but definatelly not that it is the same as any other players handling the ball midfield.

A player is sent off, however, if he prevents a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball. This punishment arises not from the act of the player deliberately handling the ball but from the unacceptable and unfair intervention that prevented a goal being scored Is the ruling. To me it was, discipline. However wtf is Neuer even doing out there. Reason i will never consider him best keeper in the world.

![]() often outside the box but only the last minute was dangerous. It remembers me to ger vs algeria at wc2014. I noticed that other GK in bundesliga are doing the same as neuer right now, they are often trying to come outside the box but not as great/risky as neuer.

Neuer is not really sane I think. He has cost his teams plenty of points with that however

About performance at goal he mostly watches handball.

Neuer is probably the only keeper in the world that you can rely on to play that sweeper role, and I don't ever remember him costing his team in a big game with his sweeper play. I mean really, it was absolutely crucial in the World Cup; if it wasn't for him, several teams would've been able to take advantage of the fact that we didn't have a very dependable back 4 for most of the tournament. Not only that, but he's easily also the best keeper in the world when it comes to just playing the traditional position and blocking shots/controlling the box. Cool goal indeed :D 83 meters! new Bundesliga record. Paderborn is top of the league at the moment and I thought theyre not going to win a single game. And wtf is wrong with Dortmund? But as a Bayern fan iam happy of course. BVB is still horribly wasteful up front and has a very unreliable defense. This is easily the most wasteful team I've ever seen in soccer. Probably more chances than most teams out there and yet horribly few chances actually converted. I think the problem is that 1) there is no depth in the back 4 behind the true starters (Schmelzer-Hummels-Subotic-Pisczek), and 2) some players have turned out to be busts. Mhki has been a complete disappointment (chokes horribly any time he has a decent chance), Aubameyang has been lackluster (his speed is fantastic but he's not very creative), and Sokratis has also been a let-down at times (he's a very strong defender but he makes some really stupid choices some times, especially when it comes to positioning). BVB's biggest problem is injuries. Their injury streak should go down in legend as far as I'm concerned due to how long these injuries have been happening. They need Gundogan, Kuba, Reus, and Hummels back very, very badly. What we're fielding right now simply isn't top-tier quality for a starting lineup. In his short stint, Immobile has looked much more creative and reliable than Aubameyang, Ramos, or Mhki when it comes to attacking, so he needs to start more often. I don't think that Sokratis, Mhki, Aubameyang, or Ramos are wastes of money by any stretch of the imagination, but I think that they should be the added depth that BVB has missed in the last few years instead of starting mainstays.

![]() I fully expect Chelsea to win. City have looked weak this season and Chelsea's midfield have been dominating every game so far (domestically, at least). They haven't faced anyone like Yaya Toure and Fernandinho yet though so it'll be an interesting game.

In the last couple years or so he has been consistently solid with his clearances. That was the only instance that came to my mind as well and imo Stankovic was lucky to score that, I would guess he misses 9 out of 10 if he would have to repeat that. It actually was an alright clearance by Neuer that randomly fell to Stankovic. Neuer might make an error once in a while, but how many opportunities does he prevent? And perhaps more importantly, how much does his positioning help the team? I am sure that statistically speaking his playstyle is very successful.

All I see are two blue teams that are trying to spend rationally in the transfer market and two red teams that throw money around recklessly without any results.
