We're miles away from a decent league or smtgh like that so clubs are forced to sell their yougsters as soon as possible. Two most famous croatian schools of football would be the ones in Zagreb /Dinamo zagreb) and in Split (Hajduk split), but Osijek also has some really good talents (unfortunately due to the money situation they're always forced to sell their young players to Dinamo). Luckily for Croatia, every couple of years some hot young prospect turns up so we're able to have dreams about doing smtgh in the international scene. Also. luckily for other clubs, our new stars are cheap (unless you buy from Dinamo) so they're getting "future star" for pennies. Some of the new players who are expected to break out soon are Halilović (he's in Barca atm), Kovačić, Tin Jedvaj (in Leverkusen, scored a great goal last weekend), Andrej Kramarić (he's still in croatian league-Rijeka, but he has the potential to do some nice things and probably will be bought soon). Jedvaj is great. He's naturally a center back (I think, he's 188cm) but he's already made the right back spot his own and scored in each of the last two games. It's a shame he wasted last season at Roma on the bench.

We got him from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer. Also talks of him being a huge prospect. Second biggest behind Halilovic?

That midfield is no joke, they can challenge Spain and Germany easily.

(shame, because its such a great sport)We prefer team sports in Croatia much more than individual ones, the difference in media exposure and overall interest is really huge. It's ironic really, because in all of those sports we rely on talent and quality of an individual player rather than good team-work. I guess because the strength of an individual is so much appreciated here, all the young players want to play the key role in team, which translates into everyone wants to be no.10 when it comes to football (at least in Croatia). Today we have maybe 10 or so young, technically great creative midfield players, which will most likely make a good or even great international career. (if you want names, i can write them here with a little description). At the same time we have very few young players that are being profiled as a defensive midfielders. This is of course reflected on our senior team, as it is always unbalanced with the lack of players that can make good defensive role, both in midfield and in the back line. (most recent example of this imbalance is our poor performance of in Brazil, although out manager played a big role there - instead of hiding our weakness, he actually exposed it even more with poor choice of tactic and formation). @ Twisted: I would say like this: Kovačić and Halilović > Čorić (17 yo from Dinamo) and Vlašić (16 yo from Hajduk) > than a group of maybe 10 young players with Murić amongst them as far as perceived talent and career expectations go. Here is a BR link and their predictions about some of our young players: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2158032-five-hottest-teenage-prospects-from-croatia

@warding: sorry for your experience. These things happen mostly in major tourist cities, but if you visit smaller ones everyone is usually nice and helpful (especially to strangers). Where did you go if i may ask?

That would rip everyone apart ![]()

The usual - Zagreb, Plitvice, Split, Vis, Hvar, Dubrovnik. It didn't ruin my experience at all, it was just amusing. I had a great time overall. I enjoyed seeing the fervor for Hadjuk Split, with their logo painted pretty much everywhere.
