I want to see a Kuzy Ward Brouwer line for faceoffs. And/or Ovie can find another hole in lund's coverage and be the hero we need.

Flames: 241 gf 216 ga Avs: 250 gf 220 ga They've obviously got the top line talent with the kids and Hudler (seriously they were probably one of the best lines down the stretch). I think them being good again is going to be dependent on fleshing out the roster a bit more so they can generate offense and possession from the other 3 lines. The rest of those forwards are pretty meh. Defensively I actually think they're way better than the Avs ever were. The Avs defense is atrocious. Gio-Brodie is a fantastic pairing, and the guys behind them actually are pretty decent. Wideman's not a stud or anything but when he's not drawing the top lines he can play his offensive game really well which keeps the puck out of their own end. Basically while they both defied the odds and snuck in as shitty possession teams, they're shitty possession teams in different ways. I think the Flames get worked because their 3 other lines are pretty bleh. The Avs just had a shit defense. e: I also forgot to mention it since I was a little saucy after the win but in the post game presser Ovie guaranteed a win http://deadspin.com/alex-ovechkin-were-going-to-come-back-and-win-the-ser-1703564800 god Wednesday is gonna be bonkers. I wish they didn't face each other because I really want Ovechkin and Trotz to get a goddamn Cup already. And after his play this year Holtby too. Seriously that dude just jumped way up my list of favorite goalies

getting 2 goals in the first minute of a period and another one in the last second of a period is something else. i really hope that Caps pull their shit together and dont collapse under MSG pressure. They;ve been in game 7 with Rangers before, did not end well... “The last nine games that the Rangers have faced elimination at home, they’ve won all nine because Henrik Lundqvist is 9-0, 0.97 goals against and a .968 save percentage with two shutouts,” Carlin said. “They’ve got to figure out a way to beat him at home in Game 7.”

im still frustrated, the combination of a strong overall play with the mistakes that led to those goals is so annoying. this being said if Caps dont choke/fall apart psychologically they are favs in my eyes

Staal's contract was dumb, and I do like some of the youth the Wings have back there, but I think it's not even close. Obviously there is a difference between Hank and Howard, and I do think Detroit is good this year, but the Rangers are just deeper Turns out they're the most balanced team in the expansion era by a particular metric - pretty cool. Math, etc..

Yep. Habs being in the playoffs is directly related to why Price is going to win the Hart. Mediocre goaltending and they lose like 40 games. Average goaltending and they still aren't near the playoffs. They don't score at all compared to other playoff teams.

I imagine this series would be a lot different if Zucc was healthy. He gives them much more balance and then you don't have weiner head Glass in the line up. Though to be fair, he's been generally harmless (but not helpful) out there this series

Glass isn't a quality player by any metric, but he has done enough in terms of giving us some measure of physicality that we otherwise wouldn't have. Granted I'd rather have someone who can give us a physical presence on the boards AND score, but considering Glass plays the fewest minutes on the entire team, I think it's alright.
