Well Yandle has another year and he's still pretty effective, it just seems like some other Rangers keep misplaying the puck when he passes it to them, maybe bad timing on the passes or maybe it's not his fault, but you can't really fault him for Holtby and Lundqvist playing so sick, the goal that was scored was a crazy fluke that wasn't really Yandle's fault, otherwise it could have easily been a 2OT game at 0-0.

problem with yandle is that he was bought in to create offense on the power play and so far that has not materialized. the defense is fine.

exactly, his role was/is supposed to be a Defenseman who creates scoring chances. multiple times last night in the Capitals end he had a scoring chance set up nicely, then fell over or lost control of the puck. Looking at the stats, Yandle had the fewest minutes for any NYR defenders last night, meaning maybe AV is realizing that Yandle isn't working out as planned.

I think a huge reason the Rangers lost last night was the fact that faceoffs were 40 to 18 in washingtons favor. a physical team like the caps needs to control the puck to match our speed and that's exactly what they did

AV's a big match up dude. #1 priority has been throwing McDonagh/Girardi and Staal/usually Klein out there to match vs Ovechkin whenever he is on the ice and Ovechkin is out a lot (18+ minutes last night). AV tends to throw Yandle and Boyle out for offensize or neutral zone starts, and whenever Ovechkin takes a break. Getting worked on draws like they were means even more of those two defensive pairings (aside: Rangers have generally been shit on draws all year. Part of the reason people were looking for them to make a move for a 3C despite Hayes being pretty good was so they could have a top 9 center than can win draws regularly)

So yeah, I think Yandle, outside of last night and a few other games, has been largely good. Reading into his minutes, esp in this series, isn't really indicative of whether he's failed or not simple because of how he is normally deployed, and how AV is trying to bottle up Ovechkin.

I hope the CGY/ANA refs have a swat escort to there hotel. After that super close no goal (its Toronto's fault that its no goal and not theirs so you can't blame them, they never saw it in the net) the fans a pissed and throwing stuff and chanting refs you suck very loud.

And Stajan just ended the game by crashing into Anderson. He went down easy but it doesn't matter. Goalies in the crease and you bumped him after the whistle. That's a no no.

Chi/Min has to be one of the closest 3-0 series in recent memory. If anyone would have said either team would have had a 3-0 lead before the series started I would have said you were insane. Dubnyk has looked rather average though. Granted outside of tonight's goal most of the Hawks goals were off bad defensive breakdowns but he hasn't seemed like the same goalie he was during the Wilds crazy run to make the playoffs
